Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 28, 2009 1:21 pm Hi, just thought I would share some photo's of our kitchen will is in progress.
The doors are white vinyl wrap gloss and the benchtop is Laminex Diamond Gloss Pure Mineralstone. We are hoping to have a glass splashback, we are having a quote done on Tuesday. Unsure of colour yet, think will stick to something neutral. Now a few photos......here is the kitchen, but still needs kickbacks and handles put on. There will also be a cupboard above the fridge but there was a problem with it so its gone back to the cabinet maker. Also hoping to replace the floors soon so no more pink carpet and white vinyl. The old kitchen used to be pink! Re: My new white kitchen with Diamond Gloss (finally, photos!) 2Feb 28, 2009 1:32 pm Hmm sorry the photos turned out kinda small and the rangehood looks wonky (but its not) will try and fix later!
Edited - OK I've made them bigger...hopefully they are not too big. Re: My new white kitchen with Diamond Gloss (finally, photos!) 4Mar 01, 2009 6:02 am looks lovely mrsrusty, nice and shiny! What sort of square edging is that?
We are having Pure Mineralstone Diamond Gloss as our laundry benchtop, with Laminex Alabaster cupboards. Can't wait to see it all in (in about 8 months...). Looks as though it will compliment Caeserstone Ice Snow perfectly which we will have everywhere else. Lovely kitchen! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Re: My new white kitchen with Diamond Gloss (finally, photos!) 9Mar 01, 2009 5:02 pm Standard HPL (High Pressure Laminate) is not particularly scratch resistant which means that when applied in a gloss finish it is very easy to burnish or scratch the surface - this can be more noticeable in some colours/patterns than others.
Nevamar, Diamondgloss, CreaStyle AR+ are all gloss laminates which feature minute beads of aluminium oxide embedded in the surface of the laminate; this is designed to shield the gloss from random scratching and matt effect rubbing from repeated impacts. I wouldn't say that these glosses are impervious but they are much more scratch resistant than a standard HPL (which I would NEVER recommend for a benchtop if you intend to live with it). If in doubt, apply the Tom Armstrong Test - get a sample of the gloss laminate, put it face down on a clean floor and give it a bit of a rub - seeing is believing. Of course try the same with the "protected" gloss finishes and make your own conclusions. Cheers, Earl Re: My new white kitchen with Diamond Gloss (finally, photos!) 10Mar 01, 2009 9:00 pm Hi everyone, thanks for all the positive feedback. I was so nervous about it all coming together, had we chosen right, even thought its "just white".
Thanks kyton and donuts. Donuts hope you don't mind me using your kitchen as inspiration. themax the kickbacks will be white too no idea on the splashback yet...as you said too many choices. Been researching it a bit online but so hard to decide! We have someone coming out for an appointment on Tuesday so hopefully get the ball rolling, but if anyone would like to make suggestions feel free. Stormy the edging is a really tight D roll. Glad that my pics helped to see what yours will be like, I know I appreciated finding other peoples photos so thought would pass on the favour. Your selections sound lovely too. Zerosignal sounds like strumer answered your question for you. Also with the diamond gloss is comes with a guarentee for seven years and I even did my own stress testing with a knife and green scourer and didn't see noticable scratches. I would always use a chopping board anyway but just wanted to see how "resistant" it was. Thanks for the technical details, strumer. Although with my own testing I never rubbed it on the floor. Not sure if I would want to know the results now though. Will update with photos later in the week as it wont be finished off till Thursday now. Donuts hope you don't mind me using your kitchen as inspiration. not at all! still very flattered!! Hope you enjoy your kitchen as much as I do mine! good luck with splashback choosing ... I would still go with a metallic silvery one I think! "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. Re: My new white kitchen with Diamond Gloss (finally, photos!) 16Mar 03, 2009 11:51 am Thanks again everyone. By Thursday it will be completely finished but the splashback. The splashback guy is coming on Friday then think it will take about 10 days or so to be done. But will update with photo's on Thursday then once complete.
