Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 25, 2009 8:54 pm Hi everyone!
We just had a meeting with our interior designer and are about to sign off on our materials/finishes for all our joinery. I'd love some feedback on the colours we're planning on going with. In general, we want to have a pretty natural and earthy base...and then plan on using colours in furniture, fittings etc... what we're thinking is: Walls - Dulux Grey Pebble (1/4 strength?) Ceiling - Dulux Grey Pebble (very slightly lighter) Cupboard Doors - Dulux Grey Pebble (Full strength glossy) Bench Top - Caesarstone Ice Cap & brushed stainless steel (split level island bench) Cabinets - Wenge timber veneer Draws - Wenge timber veneer Kickboard - brushed stainless steel Hardware / Taps - stainless steel/chrome Handles - n/a (45deg finger pulls) Feature Lighting - pendant........maybe deep red??? Lighting - downlights Also, the flooring will either be large format porcelains in a lightish grey/stone honed colour... or possibly a polished concrete type finish...again, a lightish grey/cloudy sort of honed finish... Here's a pic of what the kitchen will look like...sort of! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any thoughts/suggestions/comments would be really really appreciated!!! I've seen those pebble ones before, the top wall just looks suspended there. I've seen those pebble ones before, the top wall just looks suspended there. WOo hoo can't wait till your place starts the idea if for the bottom wall to be full stone (from all the blue metal stone we dug up on our block!!!) and then making some sort of a feature of the wall above... as for starting...excavations next week so i'll start taking photos!!! unfortunately still a *little* while away from putting a kitchen in! haha Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? Thanks D@n!! :) 10Feb 26, 2009 6:54 am I absolutely love the colour grey pebble!!
Not qualified to comment on the rest but polished concrete sounds lovely also. Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? Thanks D@n!! :) 11Feb 26, 2009 7:07 am BuildingACT joles WHAT???? I was really hoping you'd win the floor argument. I think all the colours will look fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the Ice Cap caeserstone. Hopefully dan might be able to photoshop it. I'd loved to see the colours done up. Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? Thanks D@n!! :) 13Feb 26, 2009 9:47 am God I love that kitchen and the colours sound perfect....so glad I don't have the space for this look, otherwise I would be feeling rather sick right now we need a green with envy face this will do! Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? Thanks D@n!! :) 14Feb 26, 2009 6:04 pm Thanks for all the kind comments everyone!!
I've been pretty nervous about trying to select all the right colours to make things look good, so really appreciate your thoughts and advice!! Although, there is a chance we may miss out on the Ice Cap because apparently they are discontinuing it!!! Our joiner is trying to see if he can still get enough for us to do the job...so fingers crossed!! Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? To be honest....there was never any real competition with the Ice Cap! It was our favourite from the start! Irony is, apparently they are discontinuing it because it's unpopular! I'm sure it will be ok Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? Thanks D@n!! :) 18Feb 26, 2009 6:21 pm you have a gorgeous kitchen plan! you must be pleased...
the colours sound great, the only thing im not sure about is the red pendant light - I guess you will see in time how it will look! Annie A thankful person is a happy person. Re: What do u think of my kitchen colours? Thanks D@n!! :) 20Feb 26, 2009 6:35 pm I see a lot of kitchens, and they all look pretty much same, same to me.
Your design and layout is definitely something I would like. I know a lot of people would consider the cooktop so close the breakfast bar unsafe, and in a way it is. The one thing wrong, and this depends on how you work in the kitchen, there’s not a lot of prep space, which means all the mess could over flow onto the eating area. But hey, as I said, depends how you work in the kitchen. My suggestion if budget allows, is to have some pull out work benches under the counter. But it looks really smick!
