A thankful person is a happy person. [/color]My hobby design blog: http://aviewondesign.blogspot.com/ soild timber 3Feb 25, 2009 9:17 am only soild tas oak is mentioned in our contract even the plans state tas oak
not once have they used the term tas oak veneer etc.only our doors which have glass inserts have been made from timber the rest they did in veneer , Re: paid 4 timber but got timber veneer 5Feb 25, 2009 10:11 am Just a quick question. I take it your doors are flush??
ie they dont have the traditional arch?? If they are flush then vineer is probably a better option as less likely to warp , However it sounds like you paid for solid timber so you should still like you are gith to get a credit at least. Re: paid 4 timber but got timber veneer 8Feb 25, 2009 11:47 am they made the doors out of tas oak timber. but all the extras like wine rack ,all the ends all the shelves{exposed shelves} ,basically all the fancy expansive things and all the large panels which are exposed at the ends of the benches are all veneer they look terrible Re: paid 4 timber but got timber veneer 9Feb 25, 2009 11:55 am A solid timber kitchen, usually refers to the doors as being solid. All the division panels should be vineer. The wine rack depending on design could be either.
One thing that cought my attention is that you said all the ends of the panels are vineer. You would not do this if they are solid panels. Therefore I think they must be all vineer. Re: paid 4 timber but got timber veneer 10Feb 25, 2009 1:40 pm our original kitchen was solid silky oak from kickboards to the bench top we could not have been more specific with the company that we wanted a full timber kitchen to match the rest of our house. the only reason we got a new kitchen was because we could not repair the old one which was 25 years old. there was not one trace of timber veneer in that kitchen. Re: paid 4 timber but got timber veneer 11Feb 25, 2009 3:04 pm Boy does this sound familiar..... happened to us with a blackwood kitchen with Henl@y. Veneer board to trims and island... in our case the solid timber was at least 2 shades darker than the veneer....
We withheld payment and they eventually agreed to stain the veneer to match the solid. In my opinion it still looks sugar honey ice tea. It was the biggest and most exp mistake we made... We also have the veneer kickboards which and now 18months later losing there finish - now happy jan. Good luck - I have just resigned myself to re-doing the kitchen in 5 years Re: paid 4 timber but got timber veneer 14Feb 25, 2009 7:05 pm jkm911 problem fixed .sent 6 fax's to their head office and one tantrum on the phone and i am getting the solid tas oak kitchen that i paid for. PMS comes in handy sometimes I reckon if you're on the quiet side a bit of PMS or M/pause goes a looong way to get you what you want unfortunately they are both a pain in the ar5e, but a fact of life.....so we should use it to our advantage good for you 2 8366 can’t tell from the photo, a tie down rod will be 12mm, is it a steel beam? he should be able to work it out 1 4470 5 10494 |
