Sounds strange, but comes in a small 500g tub and is a smooth creme cleanser. She used it to clean the oven and it came up beautifully, and without the fumes of the spray on oven cleaners. Good thing is you can use it everywhere (suggests not to use on delicate stainless steel surfaces where scratching may occur), and a little bit goes a long way. She bought some about 4 months ago, we use it a fair bit and it still more than half full !! Cheers. Re: Cleaning Oven 6Feb 21, 2009 9:12 am I cleaned the oven in our rental when we vacated, following my mother's advice (she's a professional cleaner), and it looked like new....
Take the shelves out - and the side rack thingies that the shelves slide into, if they'll come out. Take them outside, put them in a green garbage bag and tip in a bottle of cloudy ammonia. Tie the top up and leave it overnight. Spray your oven with Mr Muscle and leave for however long the can says. Make sure you use long, thick rubber gloves too - not those flimsy disposable ones. Clean off the oven cleaner as per instructions. Open the bag (outside) and take out the racks. Give them a hose off and most of the gunk should just slide off. Give any remaining stuff a quick scrub with a steel scourer in some hot soapy water. If they don't gleam and look like new, I'll be very surprised. For the final touch, clean the inside of the glass on the door with a scraper blade - the kind you use to remove rego labels from windscreens. The gunk should come off easily, but some Spray & Wipe and a good scrape will remove any leftovers. If the oven is stainless steel, give the outside a clean with whatever you prefer, then dry it off and THEN use some Steel Kleen, applied with paper towel. it's an oil-based cleaner, removes fingerprints and leaves everything shiny. The outside of the glass, I just finish with a glass cleaning cloth. Or use Windex if you prefer. If you want to avoid all this trouble, I'd take Michelle's advice. Don't use it. Works for me....our barbeque works overtime instead. OMG GUMPTION IS THE BEST STUFF EVER- it cleans everything i mean everything. you dont even have to scrub down. cos its in a tub and creamy but hard its not watered down or anything. If you clean walls with it you have to wipe down cos will leave residue. But it cleans ovens perfectly Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!!
