our kitchen is smallish and in a house thats about 30yrs old & what we would like & can do are very different. We have turned an outside wood cupboard into a walkin pantry(didn't have one before) & i finally have a dishwasher.Tried to lay it all out to be servicable, with all draws & pull out laders but am really stuck on whether to tile area around stove. The reasoning behind tiling floor to ceiling is that first owners stuck lino on the walls (why, who knows) & the glue they used has stained walls, cant get it off & it keeps coming through the paint, even thick dulux undercoat. Thinking we could use ssteel around stove but not all up the walls. We are after a look that say's come in ,be comfy, but fresh & not too out there. Earthy, rustic. Most of our furniture is antique but not quite after that look here, its a busy place & would like it to be used as centre of home. Colours ???? cheers k Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! Then you negate the grout lines. The laminex website shows some uses but if you are near a Laminex showroom they also show in in displays.
My parents did it in their previous home's kitchen as Dad wanted something easy to lay and Mum wanted less cleaning. They just used a white plain panel and it looked really fresh. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: kitchen, granite bench colour, splash back, tile colour/size 5Feb 19, 2009 1:38 pm thanks for reply kyton, will check it out

first choice was a lighter pebble granite but people were saying it stains & shows marks?.Our kitchen is small & i'm thinking the dark colour will make it seem smaller & dull, like idea of light, clean fresh but homely, totally confushed & have to make up mind soonish as we are in a mess, unorganized & it,s getting me down ,also the lighter colours are cheaper $286-00 for 2.700 x 650 x20mm without the installation of course. We will also have enough for granite splash around bench. Some people just seem to have the nack of picking everthing just right the kitchens on here are just beautiful,am now on tight budget, just wont to get it right. Also would big wide handles look over powering, long wide ones or smaller but not to sml round cheers k Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! For a small kitchen have light colours, dark colours to be accent colours only i.e floating shelves, feature panel etc... For the benchtop choose almond rocca or ice snow - fresh and safe. For the splashback go with tiles. White with black/graphite or a colour feature tile like the mosaic ones. These would run across the length of the wall. If you have black kickboards it will all match too For the handles a simple shape that isnt too big will be fine. A silver bar handle will keep the kitchen looking current where as a knob will age the kitchen little - help tie in the antique theme you currently have in the rest of the house Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!!
