Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 20, 2007 9:16 pm I have gone through all manufacturers' websites that I could think of trying to find an integrated fridge (that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg) and apart from Miele and Jennair I can't find anything else. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it. It would need to be a proper integrated fridge, not Fisher and Pykel stand alone ones that "could" be integrated. Thanks! Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 2Feb 21, 2007 10:05 am Hi Mek,
try Liebherr, a leading brand. Very good quality and energy efficient. In Oz: Andi-Co Australia Pty Ltd Stamford Road 1 3166 Oakleigh, Vic. Thanks! you are really only left with the overseas fridges and even then some of them are somewhat loose on the term of intergrated Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 5Feb 23, 2007 7:39 pm Rod1949 Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean by integrated fridge? You can put kitchen panels over them so they "disappear" into your cabinetry. Thanks for replying, everyone, I have "compiled a list" of everything available which is not much, Miele, Jennair and Liebherr, who are the cheapest at $3609 for a combined fridge/freezer. Miele only has a separate fridge and a separate freezer at the moment but a combined fridge/freezer will be available later in the year. Looks like I'm the only person in AUS who wants one Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 6Feb 23, 2007 7:48 pm Our new house has the fridge behind integrated door panels. The panels aren't attached to the fridge, so you have to open the doors then open the fridge. The installers must have been trying to get that integrated look, but without the convenience.
What a pain. Guess what the first thing that is getting taken off. I'd imagine the fridge doesn't work very well either as there is no/minimal ventilation. Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 7Feb 23, 2007 8:55 pm Definitely a point there, Bud. I looked at integrating our existing F&P fridge, you can buy an integration kit from them, but they cannot guarantee sufficient air flow and also once you put the panels on, you can't remove internal shelves any longer. I would think the above 3 brands would not have these issues. Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 8Feb 23, 2007 10:04 pm Hi Mek,
Miele or Liebherr integrated fridges are designed for that purpose, but the necessary ventilation openings need to be made in the base and above. They have an energy efficiency F&P can only dream of. The same applies to dishwashers, washing machines and freezers.... Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 9Feb 24, 2007 7:00 am Thanks windowexpert. I've pretty much decided on a Miele fridge/freezer but they won't be available until May, which is fine, we're not that far with our house yet.
I like your posts, keep educating us how important quality is, maybe the market demand for quality windows and the like will improve. I pretty much can't believe the flimsiness of AUS windows, having come from Europe. Of course, price for quality stuff is unbelievable here, too. (sorry, a bit out of the area of discussion ) Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 10Feb 24, 2007 1:44 pm Hi Mek,
The main difficulty in this part of the world is that a majority of the building industry "professionals" is very narrow minded and resistant to new advanced products and methods developed overseas. A lot of good quality products like european windows are artificially overpriced with tarrifs and lack of local supplies. An example to the topic: A 300 Litre deep freezer from Liebherr is about a third cheaper (in Europe) compared to a F&P. But the Liebherr is also twice as good insulated, much more energy efficient, and guaranteed to keep the temperature for up to 72 hours after a powercut, if you dont open it !!! Our F&P (the first and last one) did only last a few hours after the last power cut we had Window hardware is another example. Everything is imported because local manufacturers/suppliers rather stick to the same old stuff instead of modern advanced systems. Stick and GIB construction with single glazed aluminium joinery is extremely overpriced for what you get. Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 13Apr 12, 2007 9:26 pm mek I've still got some time as we're only at frame stage at the moment. But I'm definitely getting one. If you're interested I can let you know what they are and how much they cost. Thanks mek I am aware of what they are but how much do they cost? Also, what happens when the fridge breaks down or you decide to upgrade or downgrade in terms of size? Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 14Apr 13, 2007 3:15 pm ms_platimum, here you go:
Jennair JCBJ-20-BT AUD 3999, JCJS-22-BT AUD 5499 fridge/freezer Liebherr KIKNv3046 AUD 3609 fridge/freezer Miele K855 iD-1 AUD 2199, fridge only Miele F456 i-2 AUD 1999 freezer only Miele are expecting new models in May, keep an eye on their website if you're interested. As to what happens if your fridge goes bust or if you want to upgrade/downgrade, I have no answer, and my husband keeps asking me the same question. . I still want one though. Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 19Jun 10, 2007 10:17 pm Thanks renomart.
Update: if anyone else is on the lookout for integrated fridges, Electrolux have a separate fridge & freezer, just found out today. I haven't got prices yet though. http://www.electrolux.com.au/node37.aspx?categoryid=240 Looks like Miele is not bringing in any new models of combined fridge/freezers this year. Re: Who sells integrated fridges? 20Jun 12, 2007 6:47 pm I was in a kitchen place the other day and they had a kit that was fitted, ie looked like glued or screwed to the fridge door, which had runners that allowed the fridge door to open and close when you opened the outside cupboard door.
It was not part of the frifge. But totally agree re the insulation. We havea hot climate yet our fridges etc are the thinnest of insulation. I think it's becasue there is nothing in the regulations to make the manufacturers want to do anything else. Why make it more efficient if most buyers would notpay more for it? Yes it is changing, thank goodness If your after a really efficient fridge, then the VESTFROST are rated as the best for low power and very efficient. Steve 2 2525 |
