Also does anyone know of anywhere in Adelaide that does 'scratch and dent' type sales of dishwashers? Im after a 2 drawer stainless model - don't care what brand - was hoping to get one for under $500 Re: Dishwasher Questions 2Feb 15, 2009 7:22 pm McReidy I'm looking at getting a dishwasher with the baby on the way and wondered how much modification is requied to install it. Re: Dishwasher Questions 3Feb 15, 2009 9:19 pm F&Pare the only ones to make a drawer version I think...
I'll probably be in the minority but I HATED mine... Always produced 1/2 clean dishes and broke down repeatedly. Cost a fortune to fix and reported to be VERY unhygenic as they are open to cockroaches etc. when not in use... I pulled mine out and left it on the curb for council cleanup. My advice would be to buy a quality brand off fleabay. I got a 2 year old semi integrated Smeg for $280. Best dishwasher I've ever owned. Re: Dishwasher Questions 4Feb 16, 2009 11:12 am We are getting one drawer to go in our bar. As far as cockroaches go, I get them in my normal dishwasher now, so I don't think it makes any difference, and I think you will get at least one bad dishwasher story for every brand, mine was Kleenmaid. I have a friend with 3 F&P drawers and she loves them. I ask because my builder will have the connections ready, I need to know if I need a tradesman to hook it up or if I can do it myself..? P. I've never hear of this Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Dishwasher Questions 11Dec 16, 2009 9:27 am I would not recommend one of those two draw dishwashers to anybody. Have experienced exactly the same as the previous poster- 1/2 clean dishes (very frustrating and very inefficient waterwise when you consider that dishes need to be run through twice.) Bosch make a dishwasher (and I think LG does too) that has an 'upper' and 'lower' wash function- so essentially it does exactly what the 2 draw ones do and the Bosch are about $300 cheaper than the F&P 2 draw. There's no competition! Re: Dishwasher Questions 12Dec 16, 2009 1:44 pm Hi Folks, I've connected up several Dishwashers and am really just a handy man. There are two hoses (one water and one waste) and the power. You need to make sure you have the washer - usually a thick black one - in the hose connector that goes to the tap fitting and you need to put plenty of plumbers tape around the thread of the fitting. Make sure the hose is not stretched to meet the tap or the waste connection and make sure they are tight. !! The U-bend where the sink waste is will have a little connection point for the waste hose to clamp on to. In many cases these are not pre-drilled, ie, they have to have a hole through to the U-Bend so that the water runs into the same pipe from the dishwasher as it does from the sink. If you're not sure about this - Plumber! Also, and this is where the plumber comes in again - if the builder has not fitted a separate cut off tap to the fitting and it's just a capped water point - get a plumber in and have him fit one!! Having a cutoff tap for the dishwasher is really important. I've see wooden floors and carpet edges near kitchens ruined by the flood created when a water fitting from a dishwasher went bad and no way to turn the water off until you run outside to turn the mains off. Pay the money to make sure the cut-off tap is there! Hope that helps... I ask because my builder will have the connections ready, I need to know if I need a tradesman to hook it up or if I can do it myself..? P. We had the plumbing and power point done by the builder, and we still had to drill through the cabinets ourselves, and screw the dishwasher to the cabinetry. Apparently the builder doesn't do this because different dishwashers required the holes in different places. Installing it is probably not all that difficult for your average handy person, but we are not so handy so it turned into a bit of a drama! Oh, and its a F&P double dish drawer and I LOVE IT!!! Its the latest model, and I haven't had anything come out of there yet that is less than sparkling clean (and I have been testing it ) I am installing a new Bosch SMU4HTS01A built under dushwasher.
