My girlfriend went to our kitchen appointment today and I missed out, but did I cop it when she got back!
We are building (or trying to anyway) with Clarendum, and have been squeezed out of every last dollar so far, until the kitchen appointment. We were told that we HAVE to raise the benchtops at least 20mm to allow for the tiles, this will incur a charge of $300! ARE THEY FOR REAL??? Are they joking, do we have to pay this? They also quoted us $500 for a set of drawers in lieu of a cupboard in the bathroom, is it me or these prices outrageous? It gets worse, they want $150 per drawer, for soft closers, thats $750 extra for the only set of drawers in the kitchen. Has anyone else faced this and paid it or argued the difference with the kitchen makers.
It is so unfair, they have a captured audience and can charge whatever they like.
I knew prices would spiral after we signed the dotted line, but in todays market surely we can push back a bit and get some respite, or am I just kidding myself?
Regards
A first time builder
Soft close draws (Blum tandembox) add about $65 per draw
