Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 13, 2009 9:32 am I like gas cooktops, but I don't like the stainless steel or enamel tops as they are hard to clean and show any splatters, and our standard spec is a 90cm stainless steel gas cooktop. My parents have a black ceramic glass 90cm gas cooktop which I like as it's so much easier to clean and hides marks easily, and in it's time (it's 20 years old) it was cheaper than stainless steel cook tops, so my hope was to switch the stainless steel base with the black glass base.
However, when I've been trying to search for a basic 5 burner 90cm black ceramic glass gas cooktop, I'm getting fancy ones which cost double of the stainless steel with all these features I'll never use. I'm stuggling just to find a normal one..... I don't care about the brand, just as long as it works and won't break down in 2 years time. Have any of you come across one? Such as in your pre-starts or anything? Seen any in the shops? Re: Cooktop Help 2Feb 13, 2009 9:41 am I've had this black ceramic gas cooktop for a year:
http://www.miele.com.au/au/domestic/pro ... _17180.htm It is a breeze to clean the glass (I was sick of trying to keep my previous stainless steel one clean) but if I could choose again I would go for induction only because the pot rests and other removabe parts are really difficult to clean and it takes ages. I've tried washing them in our dishwasher but they don't really come out clean. Otherwise, the cooktop is great, the flame can be put on really low when you need it and the wok burner is strong enough when it needs to be. Re: Cooktop Help 3Feb 13, 2009 9:08 pm Electrolux do one it called their E line series.
We were going to go with it but decided on the electric ceramic at the last moment, as thats even easier to keep clean. Check our their website. Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Cooktop Help 4Feb 15, 2009 9:48 pm Hi mrs_smith
There are a couple out there. We are buying this one: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Blanco have a crystal glass range as well. I'm not sure of the price for the Blanco, the Electrolux we are getting is around $1500. Good luck with your search! Re: Cooktop Help 5Feb 16, 2009 3:37 pm Probably the Electrolux is the cheapest one for about $1500, other 90cm glass cooktops like Neff or miele cost close to $3000. Or if you don't mind a 70cm one with 5 burners, you can look at the blanco for about $1100 or one from Teka (a spanish brand) for a bit less than $1000. Re: Cooktop Help 6Feb 17, 2009 8:45 am What about the amazing Fisher Paykel Izona range?
http://www.tomorrowskitchen.co.nz/index ... ok-surface The gas supports all retract back into the cooktop for easy cleaning. It looks amazing but not sure of price. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Cooktop Help 7Feb 17, 2009 9:02 am Thanks for that, I'll send all options to the builder.
We want to 90cm cooktop as we're having a 90cm oven underneath and it will look nicer, and the extra space between burners is better too for odd shaped pots. My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven. It's personal preferance 5 10879 Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting.
