It was Littlemoscow's kitchen on the previous page. Seems there were some photos but they're not there now, but everyone has commented on them edit to add..maybe 2 pages back now..looks like my post has clicked over to a new page Re: 462Apr 06, 2010 5:56 pm Hi donuts, your kitchen looks fabulous. DH and i are trying to find similar lights to hang over our kitchen island. Do you mind if i ask where you got them? Thanks [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Show me your kitchen... 463Apr 06, 2010 11:45 pm Re: Show me your kitchen... 464Apr 07, 2010 9:29 pm Wow, Dollar! That looks great Love those red tiles, I've never seen anything like them before. Bravo for being so brave, it's definitely paid off Re: Show me your kitchen... 465Apr 07, 2010 9:37 pm Beautiful, I can't wait to see it cleaned up. I love your overheads and the red tile is stunning. Its great to see colour being used. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Show me your kitchen... 466Apr 07, 2010 10:53 pm Oh thanks. I think it looks better in real life. I'm not a huge fan of red but our front door is a tone of red too. The tiles though are more like a burnt orangey colour more than red but yes they do definitely show a red. Re: Show me your kitchen... 467Apr 07, 2010 10:58 pm Dollar, that looks so good - the splashback really pops with your dark cabinetry and it's definitely diiferent, in a really good way! Well done ! MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Show me your kitchen... 468Apr 07, 2010 11:14 pm Oh thanks very much. The photo is a bit deceiving at the moment as the tiles are more of a burnt orange. I also just checked some leftover tiles and yes they definitely look more orange than red. It was a toss up between slumped glass splashback and these tiles. The glass was going to cost close to $5,000 which I thought was ridiculous but it is quite a big kitchen. I'm happy with the result and the effect. The overhead cupboards are great. When you let go of the cabinet it will just stay in that position and won't slam down. Re: Show me your kitchen... 469Apr 08, 2010 11:04 am Is there any particular disadvantage of having a square cut benchtop corners (edges), rather than rounded, in a ceasarstone material? I mean the breakfast bar area - very often they make the corners rounded, or sometimes they even make the whole end an oval shape, rather than plain fully square. For example, I noticed themax's benchtop is rounded at the end: , while some others are square. Any thoughts? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... I have square CS edges in my kitchen and the other day I took the corner too sharply and my hip collided with the corner of my benchtop- needless to say I came off second best! First week in the new house so I'm sure I have a lifetime of bruises to look forward to! But other than that, it is just a personal preference- we have a lot of square things going on in our kitchen, so square edges just made sense. First week in the new house so I'm sure I have a lifetime of bruises to look forward to! But other than that, it is just a personal preference- we have a lot of square things going on in our kitchen, so square edges just made sense. This was the main reason we chose waterful edges. I cringe whenever my kidlets run past a normal cornered benchtop. They are young so don't think about sharp corners. Even my in-laws are looking to have waterfall edges in their new home after our kids banging their heads on the benchtop corners. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Show me your kitchen... 472Apr 08, 2010 3:36 pm We also have waterfall edges to prevent mishaps (and because they look great!). Should get to see it actually completed later today =))) Anyways... So excited - just have to share =))) from my blog: This is our Essastone "New Basmati" benchtops. The kitchen island bench is 3cm thick, everywhere else is 2cm thick. Will update with more pics at the end of the day when everything is done... I'm a tad peeved over this because the wonky wall has STILL not been fixed, and the benchtop now goes all the way to the wall on both ends. This means that when the wall is fixed the benchtop will need to be trimmed (thus making the job more difficult for them) OR the wall will be straightened and moved to the left of where it should be, leaving uneven spaces at each end of the cabinetry. One of the spacers is already there and is about 2.5cm in width, the gap on the left side will be about 4cm so will need a 4cm spacer. The other option is that they remove the cabinetry and reinstall it in the middle, but that would be too much like hard work - especially considering that they would then need to order two new spacers... *sigh* without further ado, my ensuite cabinet with beautiful essastone benchtop and frustrating wonky wall... Re: Show me your kitchen... 474Apr 08, 2010 11:08 pm Dollar - love the kitchen - similar colours to what we have chosen but ours is a more burgundy splash, what colour are the cupboards - laminate?? What splash are you having? glass, tiles, etc? Re: Show me your kitchen... 476Apr 08, 2010 11:56 pm Dollar, I have just posted this on another thread ...sorry for the doubleup...but we are having glass burgundy splash back: - osprey CS benches - Dark cupboards (probably Formica 'graphite') - I am still tossing up whether to go with a two-tone and have lighter cupboards on the top - am also considering glass cupboards doors on top with stainless steel boarders. - light floors (natural bamboo) - and my favourite - burgundy glass splashback (Focus Glass FC320C) i haven't actually seen this in real life - it's all in my head!! but I have seen some pictures that have given some inspiration. The first picture is my favourite and the most like what I have in mind. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Mel - jumping in feet first to my first owner build!! I do like those cupboards. I think you are definitely on the right track. I can't seem to see the Burgundy you have chosen. Are you in QLD? Focus Glass is. Re: Show me your kitchen... 478Apr 09, 2010 12:16 am Yes - I'm in Brisbane - I got the colour through our colour consultant - I don't think that the Focus glass website has their colour range on there. It has the same depth as the red in the picture but more burgundy than red in actual colour. I am having the same thoughts about two-tone - not sure if it will date easily - which is why I am leaning towards glass front cupboards on the top with darker cupboards from floor to ceiling at either end of the back bench (we then just have an island bench) - cupboards similar to the back wall in the first picture that I posted. Although I really like how they look, I think it would be wise to have them rounded like in themax's kitchen. Much healthier for the hips My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
