Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Show me your kitchen... 341Jan 20, 2010 3:15 pm There is some fantastic kitchens in here. Great work everyone, so good to see some of the creative use of materials and colours. I thought I had some of our finished kitchen in here, but I didn't. Its nothing too fancy, but does the job. I would have like a sleek modern looking one, but my wife wasn't keen on that idea. Re: Show me your kitchen... 346Jan 25, 2010 3:54 pm Hi everyone, Such STUNNING kitchens! I am about to start building not one, but two houses! (one of them to be an investment property) and I cannot decide on my laminate colours! I love how a lot of you have used wood grain laminate, but im worried it might look a bit too 'fake' - can anyone comment? I have found that the gloss looks a bit better? Thanks, Leah Re: Show me your kitchen... 347Jan 25, 2010 4:37 pm Leah... Hi everyone, Such STUNNING kitchens! I am about to start building not one, but two houses! I love how a lot of you have used wood grain laminate, but im worried it might look a bit too 'fake' - can anyone comment? I have found that the gloss looks a bit better? Thanks, Leah I guess it depends on how adventurous you are! At the moment, i am loving lustrous elm, burnished wood, fudgestream laminexes all with say an ashwhite benchtop (although a plain white bench could be a bit of a no no in a rental, im not sure?). I am having lustrous elm in my laundry and burnished wood in the bathrooms. We are having a two pac kitchen. I was quite adventurous enough for fudgestream but I love it! My bit of advice is to look at a cabinet done, dont decide on the small sample... Re: Show me your kitchen... 348Jan 27, 2010 1:45 am To me, using the woodgrain laminates isn't about fooling people into thinking they are the real deal, I just think they look nice They are quite clearly not wood, unless you use wood, so I'm not concerned about any "fakeness" My kitchen is in, but minus splashback. I have chocolate woodgrain look cupboards, beige overheads, with toffee mineralstone laminex diamond gloss benchtops (again, using the toffee mineralstone, I don't see it as trying to fool anyone into thinking I have caesarstone or anything, I just liked it and was within my budget!) Once I finish unpacking and getting things in order, I might get some photos up here, but I'm a bit apprehensive as the no splashback looks ghastly! Since joining H1, I'm not as crash hot about my kitchen as I was when I first made my mind up. But it's in now, and I do like it, so dammit I WILL enjoy it! I just need to get the splashback in to make it feel complete, but we all know how much choosing a splashback can do your head in Re: Show me your kitchen... 349Jan 31, 2010 7:43 pm Oooh, EKT your kitchen looks lovely Splashback colour is really nice. Re: Show me your kitchen... 350Feb 02, 2010 10:54 am Thanks guys! Decided on Licorice Linea for our cupboard doors after so many positive comments on this thread! And our excellent cabinet maker isnt charging us extra for it as only a flat colour was included in our standards which is just lovely Will post pics up once its done!! Re: Show me your kitchen... 351Feb 04, 2010 6:47 pm Still not finished, tossing up between glass tiles or full glass splashback. Re: Show me your kitchen... 357Feb 05, 2010 2:57 pm Dale&Bron Still not finished, tossing up between glass tiles or full glass splashback. Where will your splashback be? That sounds like a silly question doesn't it I guess what I mean is, you have lovely walls which are a feature in itself, I wouldn't want to cover that up with anything other than perhaps clear glass! Re: Show me your kitchen... 358Feb 05, 2010 3:25 pm I would go a full glass splashback, it might look a bit busy with the walls and glass tiles. Moved In!!! Next up Landscaping!
