Re: Show me your kitchen... 1676Sep 22, 2011 1:05 am Hi Everyone, Just joined this forum - it's fantastic! I need your advice please! This is our first home we have built and we have tried to create a warm, family home with lots of warm tones and colours. Our kitchen has been installed, paint, tiles and carpet are all in! I feel sad that the result is not what I expected and now realise how hard it can be to mix neutrals! Kitchen colour choice, Cabinets - Pumice Benchtop - Stipple Seal Paint - Baked Clay http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g35 ... C02209.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g35 ... 7516_n.jpg http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g35 ... 3188_n.jpg I cannot spend much money changing the laminex or splashbacks now but if I had my choice over I would! The paint against the Pumice has come off as very yellow in tone. I saw pumice in a display house and loved it! Going back to those houses I have noticed the paint colours surrounding the kitchen were much lights then ours and I think the taupe paint is offsetting the pumice badly. To resolve this problem in a cheaper way I was thinking of painting above and around the kitchen white (like the roof white). Then having the feature wall down the side in white also but continue the taupe paint in the rest of the room. Any advice people? Do you think white wall will help the pumice colour not look as yellow/pink tinted? What should I do? Look forward to hearing your advice! Thanks! Gem Re: Show me your kitchen... 1677Sep 22, 2011 11:40 am kel72 - love the transformation - you must be over the moon - computer nook is a great idea! Gem - I quite like your kitchen colours - esp pic 3 - wait till you fill it up with all your appliances, I bet you won't even notice the wall - at the moment it's your focus. Live with it a while before making any decisions. I think you picked well but i know nothing & have had sagas with ours too. Your colours would look great with wood or white furniture,a piece of art work on the wall in reds or green etc, give it time i'm sure you will end up loving it. I think I was having a little bit of a stress attack last night when I really let everything get to me and think I had really stuffed up the whole look of my kitchen which is so upsetting when you really tried hard to create something you would love.. In thinking over the comments and my concerns with it all today I think you are both right. I will wait until we move into the house. I always wanted to decorate with great natural woods (dining table etc) and mix it all in with white furniture to compliment the baked clay on the walls. How funny that is exactly what you suggested Kerry-Ann! I think as you said, once I put in appliances, artwork and furniture we can then see if it's really necessary to change anything to much. I would like to incorporate red in the kitchen and find a really nice big piece of are to put behind the dining room. Thanks so much for your honest opinions and helpful advice. You have put my mind at ease and when we move in I will be sure to post some updated pics and let you know how I have gone Gem Re: Show me your kitchen... 1680Sep 24, 2011 1:54 pm kel, your kitchen is gorgeous.
