Re: Show me your kitchen... 2903May 26, 2015 8:47 am TraceyWayne Lovely kitchen sco77k, what colour is the cabinetry that is not white? Looks beautiful Hi Tracey, thank you! the dark cabinets are Laminex Espresso Ligna http://www.laminex.com.au/colour-palett ... esso-ligna Re: Show me your kitchen... 2904May 26, 2015 8:56 am MnT sco77k your kitchen is beautiful, you must be stoked. May I ask where you got your stools from? I love them Hi MnT, the stools are made by a company called Hay. The stools are called 'About A Stool'. I ordered mine directly from Germany as they were cheaper but there are a few places in Australia that sell them, try Cult Design. Or the place I ordered them from Germany is called Connox. Hard to tell in the photos but the island is a full slab wide. http://i786.photobucket.com/albums/yy141/sco77k/5-g_zps32w98muw.jpg http://i786.photobucket.com/albums/yy141/sco77k/9-gg_zpsaio0jrih.jpg Re: Show me your kitchen... 2909Jun 01, 2015 11:05 am gorgeous!! love the downlights on the splashback too. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2910Jun 01, 2015 11:21 am Just beautiful! Which cupboards do you use as your pantry? Can I ask what flooring you have? Re: Show me your kitchen... 2911Jun 01, 2015 11:28 am winter_1429 Just beautiful! Which cupboards do you use as your pantry? Can I ask what flooring you have? Hi winter, thanks! do you mean the cupboard door colour? If so they are Laminex Espresso Ligna. The pantry is 6 pull out blum drawers with a shelf at the top. The floors are bamboo in coffee colour. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2912Jun 01, 2015 11:40 am Thanks sco77k... are you happy with your bamboo? I've come to realise how expensive solid timber floors are!! One more question... is your home on a slab? Re: Show me your kitchen... 2913Jun 01, 2015 1:55 pm Hi winter, yes very happy, they are hardier than most timber flooring at a fraction of the price. Our home is on a slab however our house is old and when we bought it had horrible 80s tiles, we decided to lay the bamboo straight over the existing tiles. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2914Jun 01, 2015 4:01 pm Sco77k - love the layout of your kitchen! This is almost exactly the layout we will be going for. How have you found the bamboo hardness wise? I'm tossing up between bamboo and vinyl planks but I have inside dogs so I'm worried about the dogs scratching the bamboo. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2915Jun 01, 2015 4:19 pm Hi me429sb, thank you! yes the layout is very practical which makes it very easy to cook! We have 2 inside dogs (Cavaliers) and we haven't seen one scratch from them. We also have 2 kids under 4 and they haven't managed to do any damage yet either! We've had the bamboo for around a year now. Vinyl planks are getting better but I still found them very "plasticy" under foot. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2916Jun 01, 2015 4:24 pm I should probably clarify that they aren't scratch proof. But a lot hardier then other timber floating floors. We've had the plumber put a small scratch in it by dragging the new dishwasher into place, but we do have a special bamboo floor scratch oil that covers up the scratches pretty good. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2917Jun 01, 2015 6:24 pm Very nice. Great looking floor and like the handle-less look. Would probably prefer some colour in the splashback to give that side some pop, rather than being all white/light. What was the reason for having the oven next to the fridge? Re: Show me your kitchen... 2918Jun 01, 2015 9:20 pm Hi d@n thanks! yeah fair enough we prefer the classic look of marble for the splasback, which in our opinion won't date as fast as some of the bright bold colored spashbacks. Each to their own though. As for the oven next to the fridge, why not? Seems to work well lifting roasts etc to and from the island into the oven. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2919Jun 02, 2015 2:38 am sco77k I think you have more than enough colours in there. With the warmth of the bamboo floor, the marble splashback + island together with the different finishes to the kitchen cupboards, it might have been too busy adding any others anyway. The placement of the oven seems like good use of the space. I'm clearly not alone in thinking it is a stunning kitchen if you look at the other comments Re: Show me your kitchen... 2920Jun 02, 2015 3:00 pm The fridge/oven question may be because something hot is next to something cold? We had the same thing in our old house, if it caused any issues we didn't notice. My build thread: Custom build on 40 acres viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75656 Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
