Re: Show me your kitchen... 482Apr 09, 2010 10:02 am MelMan I like the cupboards you're talking about in the picture. Re: Show me your kitchen... 483Apr 09, 2010 2:05 pm Dollar and Erin - your kitchens look amazing =))) LOVE the colour selections! So bold and incredible! I feel so boring (hopefully will make up for that when the black mirror splash goes in!) latest on ours: Essastone New Basmati =)) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The waterfall ends - I love this kitchen!! And especially love that super wide benchtop Could they not avoid having the join? How long is that bigger piece of the stone top (or the whole top)? Your kitchen by far is not boring. Love the idea of a mirror splash-infact I did think about this. It will create an illusion your kicthen is enormous....lol.....it looks so big but you can never have a too big kitchen. I think the mirror will be just what you needs. I was saying to the other half I wouldn't mind a fully mirrored wall and he just thought I was just going loopy. Why is the join there? Are you happy with it? It's certainly not too obvious and most people wouldn't even know you have one. When the appliances get fitting it will also add more feature to your kitchen. What colour will your tiles be on the floor? Re: Show me your kitchen... 486Apr 09, 2010 11:57 pm The join is there because the bench is 3.5m in length - too long for them to be able to do it with a single piece. The join is located about midway between the sink and the opposite end, so it goes for the entire width of the benchtop (1.2m). I'm slightly miffed that they couldn't put the join in where the sink is as that would have removed most of the join, but they refused to do it this way. I guess the stonemasons know a lot more about structural integrity of these things than I do, so I won't complain too much! =) There is one other join in the kitchen, but it is located inside the pantry (a little way inside the roller door between the kitchen and pantry areas). This is just the appliance cabinet, so no big deal. They've done a pretty good job on the join, though. Overall, I'm absolutely rapt with it. I wish I'd had the guts to go bolder, but we wanted something pretty neutral so that it didn't matter what we do with furniture, floorings or window treatments in future. So I'll just have the sparkling white kitchen and admire other people's bright, vivacious colours from afar! =))) Either way, I'm still pretty darned happy with it! Re: Show me your kitchen... 487Apr 10, 2010 7:19 am it looks so classy. If you want vibrant...get an orange apron, but this looks beautiful. I dont think you will ever regret 'playing it safe' cos it is gorgeous! Re: Show me your kitchen... 488Apr 10, 2010 7:35 am EmmaKate Lex Is there any particular disadvantage of having a square cut benchtop corners (edges), rather than rounded, in a ceasarstone material? I mean the breakfast bar area - very often they make the corners rounded, or sometimes they even make the whole end an oval shape, rather than plain fully square. For example, I noticed themax's benchtop is rounded at the end: while some others are square. Any thoughts? Bruises! I have square CS edges in my kitchen and the other day I took the corner too sharply and my hip collided with the corner of my benchtop- needless to say I came off second best! First week in the new house so I'm sure I have a lifetime of bruises to look forward to! But other than that, it is just a personal preference- we have a lot of square things going on in our kitchen, so square edges just made sense. Some gorgeous kitchens have been shown in this thread. I added a wall to the end of our bench during the design stages to eliminate or should that be minimising the number of bumps and bruises. Re: Show me your kitchen... 491Apr 10, 2010 11:26 am Dollar Lex she is having a mirror splash. I told her in no way it will look boring. Yeah, she did write it: "hopefully will make up for that when the black mirror splash goes in!" but she says black. I just cannot visualise this - it seems to me it's going to be black but extra glossy - or maybe black but with real mirror on top ... still confused!! Maybe the mirrow has colour in it-black. Re: Show me your kitchen... 495Apr 10, 2010 2:18 pm Love it! Love it! It's exquisite! What floor tiles are you having? Re: Show me your kitchen... 496Apr 10, 2010 8:41 pm we love it too =))) Hope I still feel the same when I have to clean it It is called "stopsol grey" We are having natural stone tiles in a honed basalt. Dark grey, 600*600mm and indescribably beautiful! The grey flecks in the essastone, the grey/black in the splash and the grey of the tiles should set each other off beautifully =) Everything else in the house is white, so it will still feel light and airy. We will decide on feature walls and colours when we're living there and get a feel for what each room needs =) i can't wait! Re: Show me your kitchen... 497Apr 10, 2010 8:52 pm Your tiles sound awesome. Can't wait to see more progress.
