Not sure what colour splash back to have. I was thinking charcoal, or black. But would it be too much? I think the material is about 30% more expensive so over the whole kitchen it wouldnt cost them more then $300-400 extra in crystal gloss if that? Given that the carcases etc were the same regardless of the front panels Thanks Banksy Re: Show me your kitchen... 2187Nov 10, 2012 6:21 pm Kitchen benches are almost in. The stone guy who has been wonderfully so far has made an error though. He measured up the benches and then suggested if we went from our desired 60mm to 80mm he could strengthen the benches around the back edges etc and as he had enough stone it would not cast any extra. As the waterfall end on the breakfast bar is now 20mm wider he forgot to remeasure and the bench top fell 20mm Short of the wall on the left hand edge. he had a few solutions including running a 90mm piece around the whole kitchen (you can see a piece behind the stove to show how it would look) and then we could install our splash back above. The other option is putting granite in on the complete left (cut in around the window and with a granite windowsill) and right sides (small section behind the tall cupboards) to the height of the bottom of the top cupboards. We will then put a glass splash back in the large central section. In the photo you can see a few sample Resene metallics. After having a rethink we are now considering a bronzed smoky mirror glass splash. Comments or ideas appreciated. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2189Nov 11, 2012 7:22 am I think that you would have to ensure that the metallic bronze doesn't clash with the granite. I think it will come down to the tone of the bronze, lighter or darker... Re: Show me your kitchen... 2191Nov 11, 2012 8:06 pm I wonder. .. if you have reservations about a colour, maybe paint the whole splashback area with your chosen colour and live with it for a week or two, see if you like it in all different lights? Much cheaper than deciding you don't like your glass splashback after 2 weeks, for the price of a large sample pot. Re: Show me your kitchen... 2194Nov 23, 2012 8:12 am alt060 I would suggest Black splashback. My kitchen is also going to be black and white. White Overhead cabinets, black Splashback, white benchtops and black under bench cabinets. It's not a dull bronze, very pretty actually. The sparkle will liven the black up This is Java Dusk, it's not as dark when up (daughter has it) and with down lights on it it is beautiful.
