Re: Show me your kitchen... 1374May 12, 2011 11:33 am MrsGreen Thanks Yeah I do heaps of cooking and if I could work it into the layout i'd have a 9m long prep bench! Our island bench layout is the same in regards to size and sink location- only we have an upstand at the sink end, hoping it stops kids knocking dishes onto the floor, I can already hear them smashing MrsGreen, what is an upstand? we are having our sink at the end of our island bench & like you, I'm concerned about the kids knocking dishes over. Otherwise I was considering changing to a left handed draining board/dishwasher but I think that would be a pain to load. Splashback is Zenolite with Aluminum trim. We added an extra 10cm to the bench height as both SO & I are 6' plus. Was not previously open plan but we pulled a wall out (where the breakfast bar is). Loving it. Would you have red and white gingham curtains too?? Broom - a raised servery / splashback type setup is sometimes called a upstand. Mine for instance is from the front is two taller cupboards higher then the surrounding benchtop. It covers the sink and whatever mess is in it. Some things are worth waiting for. Definitely, thought maybe a retro stainless steel toaster, jug etc, Chrome Sugar/Salt/Napkins dispensers. Quote: Would you have red and white gingham curtains too?? Sounded like a good idea to me, but SO put her foot down - hates gingham I guess my suggestion of a Gingham outfit to match won't fly either Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Show me your kitchen... 1379May 24, 2011 8:00 am kyton Broom MrsGreen Thanks Yeah I do heaps of cooking and if I could work it into the layout i'd have a 9m long prep bench! My DH really wanted to keep the island bench more "streamline" though. We have still put the sink at the end of the island but because of the dishwasher, the draining board is in from the edge. I'm not sure how far in but on the plan it looks enough to ease my concern Building our custom design "Dream Home" Follow my Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46820 Contract Signed - 28/04/11 Siteworks Commenced - 20/06/11 Re: Show me your kitchen... 1380May 24, 2011 9:18 am Heres my kitchen - floors arent done yet.
