Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 11, 2009 7:31 pm I received the quote to upgrade from Laminex benchtops to Caeserstone in the Kitchen. I have a gallery style kitchen, the back bench is 4015 and the island bench is 3500. Without the cooktop and sink the total bench space is 5780. The quote was extra $3094 and that was for 20mm in Nougat (still not sure on what colour to go for) We have no waterfall ends. Is this expensive or reasonable?? Re: Caeserstone quote. 2Feb 11, 2009 7:53 pm So what is your total square meterage?
You need to measure all the tops in width x depth. Cut outs for sinks and cooktops still count in the purchase price - unless you have a free standing oven of course. Do you have a separate price for the laminate tops or have you just been told the upgrade price on the kitchen? It is a bit hard to tell whether you have a good price or not with out a base line, but working off a rule of thumb of up to $800 a square meter installed for top of the line Caesarstone your price doesn't look too bad (depending of course on how much the original laminate price was). Cheers, Earl Re: Caeserstone quote. 3Feb 11, 2009 9:36 pm The width of the back bench is 600 and the island bench is 800, and the depth I'm guessing is 20mm , the depth of the caeserstone??
My oven is a double wall oven and no we didn't get a costing on the laminex benchtop, just a quote for the total kitchen so today I was just told of the extra costing. Sorry, I've been waiting on dh to come home for hours to work it out but he's running late. Re: Caeserstone quote. 4Feb 11, 2009 9:58 pm O.K. width and depth come out to 5.21 sq m which could be up to $4 167 installed (depending which pricing category Nougat is in) if it was coming in from an outside supplier - but your builder is probably getting better rates on volume and certain colours.
Still no telling what the original allowance for the Laminex was, but for that amount of laminated tops $1 073 would have been on the cheaper side of right...without getting exact pricings from the stone mason we use I would say that the upgrade price is not unreasonable - possibly not the cheapest, but you're not getting gouged either...at least not by the pricing guides I use. Put it this way, if you were getting it done by a third party supplier those are probably about the average prices you could expect to pay. Cheers, Earl Re: Caeserstone quote. 6Feb 12, 2009 8:55 am well this benchtop here;

Re: Caeserstone quote. 8Feb 13, 2009 11:38 am hey Jeremy,
I think the fact that im in WA has a lot to do with it - everything is more exxy over here !!! I got about 15 quotes all up - some from stone masons directly and some from kitchen reno places and all were roughly the same so its not just one person trying to stitch me up unfortunately hahaha.. i went to the smaller places and also the bigger companies too but were all the same.. Re: Caeserstone quote. 9Apr 01, 2009 1:41 am nang3 - do you have any more details/quote prices/etc in regards to your benchtop? i'm in WA as well... looking to do island thing, but struggling to find approx pricing on the web... happy to pop into as many people in WA as i require...but don't want to get taken to the cleaners so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Earl Wow that's interesting. I've been looking other options for my kitchen and Ikea - as an example - charge $350sqm fully installed for 20mm. That's a massive difference. Granted, it's Ikea and they have a limited range but....$500 difference My bench space is just over 5sqm and the price for CS is a killer Re: Caeserstone quote. 14Apr 03, 2009 2:12 pm Wow Spoke to IKEA and they do install on non-IKEA kitchens! The service charge is $550 - that's for them to come out and measure/quote. The stone is $350 sqm on top of that. This is for 20mm. Benchtops are installed within 2 weeks of order. They can accommodate undermount sinks too Colours available: Snow Ice Snow Bondi Almond Rocca Espresso Jet Black HTH http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_AU/img/pdf/IK ... chtops.pdf hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20890 I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14299 I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$. Internet suggested it should be $85-100/m2 to lay them.… 3 12347 |
