Hi all,
Looking at built in microwaves and blown away by the overpriced trim kits . Has anyone had success going to stainless steel fabricator and having one made and then I guess microwave could go on a plinth? Any advice is much appreciated.

Re: Microwave Trims 3Feb 09, 2009 5:09 pm I'd be interested to know this as well given how much they charge ... often as much as the microwave unit itself Re: Microwave Trims 4Feb 09, 2009 8:01 pm Keep your eye out for the electricals as a package - I got a great Blanco package which was wall oven, cooktop, pull out rangehood, microwave AND trim kit included. Just finished installation and yes it looks fantastic. I know heaps of people just have a microwave cavity and sit their microwave in it but having the trim was really important to me because I wanted that fully built in look. Package deals are the way to go! Re: Microwave Trims 5Feb 10, 2009 10:28 am I don't understand just how they can be that expensive. When I was looking at them initially, I (very naively) thought the price INCLUDED the microwave
The kitchen guy pointed out to me that if at any stage I got a new microwave, it would be unlikely to fit in an existing trim kit. Would be interested to hear of alternatives, too. Re: trim kit? 8Feb 10, 2009 8:12 pm themax  What is a trim kit for a microwave? It is a stainless steel surrounding for a microwave, it makes it look like the MC takes up the whole space...no gaps, and I am sure there is a better explanation than this. Re: Microwave Trims 9Feb 10, 2009 8:27 pm I am also very curious about this.
Doesn't the microwave cavity usually of the same standard dimension? Mine is 400x600mm. (is this standard??) Also, microwaves usually are of similar size too, right? If so, are there some universal trim kits around? I am sure there is market for this! Now I know and will be well informed at my kitchen appointment in a week's time!! www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com |
