Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Mitre or Laminated 40mm ? 16Feb 19, 2009 9:03 am Hmmm...
So many suggestions ... Ok, the question is ...your stone mason...if he has alot of experience in his ability to laminate and mix glues like a professional you shouldnt have a problem... how its done is the joint gets glued together and clamped so tight that there is no air or nothing trapped and most of the glue actually seeps out...what u want is the minimum ammount of glue withing the top to make it seemless...then once done...u cut it back on a saw to make it 1 straight edge... this is where the crunch line is...if you have mixed your glue correctly and made sure all ur edges were smooth before glueing... you will have a fairly seemless line and its also up the polish on the edge.... you get a good polish and buff it should b un-noticeable... MITRED: well... this is also a good way to do it as you wont have ur horizontal line becuz the join is right on the corner where u iris it off ... BUT...down side being it cost alot more to manufacture this work as its alot more delicate to the 40mm laminate..but when done correctly... looks astonishing... also you would be able to go for more of a ledge drop..instead of 40mm you will have the advantage to make your thinkness look 50 - 60 - 100mm ...your choice.... but like i said..its alot more costly... SLAB COST: Yes 30mm slabs are expensive and then having to have them sent to WA ...lol i could imagine the prices there giving you... I have good connections with W.K. ..suppliers of Q.Q ... if you want to go with this colour i could speak to them and have them put some slabs in for you in there next container heading out to W.A which will save you alot more cash... but thats if you want to go for a QQ ...because honestly ..C.S and Q.Q are very much the same ...same CNC machines used to make them ..jus different resins and quartz ... but most colours can almost be matched... anywayz... let me know if you need anything of the sort done...
