Floors - Spotted Gum Kickbacks - Brushed Alloy Cabinets - Classic White (gloss) Benchtop - Ice Snow (Caesarstone) Splashback - Self Destruct (Dulux) Walls - Hog Bristle (Dulux) Ceiling - Ceiling White I just wonder if having 'Classic White' cabinets is perhaps too white? What other shades of white could I get to complement the IceSnow CS benchtop? TIA Re: Classic White Cabinets & Ice Snow C/S Benchtop 3Feb 01, 2009 9:07 am Hi Mozzi,
I guess it all depends on what you really want!! I'm having Ice Snow and spotted gum flooring, but have chosen to go with 2 pac 'Alabaster' (laminex colour) for my cupboards. I'm not sure what colour Self Destruct is, but we are having Dulux Alecon Lace on Starphire glass (no green tinge), and our walls will be Bristol's 'Nomadic Ivory', which has a similar depth to Hogs Bristle, although it has a slightly warmer feel (pinkish tinge rather than green). We also went for the alabaster kicks instead of silver. I'd love to show you a pic but it's far from being built, so here is my colour board instead! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I originally wanted polar white gloss, but husband refused to have an 'all white' kitchen, so we compromised and are having almost white! It does sound lovely and clean though, and you really can't go wrong with a white kitchen. It will always look fresh...just hoping mine will too! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Just not sure what yet. Our floor is going to be a grey formica laminate.
I think all white can look really fresh as long as you put a splash of colour somewhere to liven it up a little - like in the walls or splashback. This is what my kitchen looks like all white in the display http://www.masterton.com.au/MASTERTON/L ... en_Lrg.jpg Re: Classic White Cabinets & Ice Snow C/S Benchtop 5Feb 01, 2009 10:56 am mozzi26 This is what we're doing in the kitchen: Floors - Spotted Gum Kickbacks - Brushed Alloy Cabinets - Classic White (gloss) Benchtop - Ice Snow (Caesarstone) Splashback - Self Destruct (Dulux) Walls - Hog Bristle (Dulux) Ceiling - Ceiling White I just wonder if having 'Classic White' cabinets is perhaps too white? Caesarstone Nougat tops, Ironbark or Ironstone (can't remember ) splashback. Our kitchen/living/dining are all close and white will make it appear bigger, my thought anyway. I love white, I love veneers too, I have seen dark grey kitchens I love. Re: Classic White Cabinets & Ice Snow C/S Benchtop 6Feb 01, 2009 12:18 pm Thanks guys. Love all your kitchens.
Stormy, your kitchen is very similar to mine. I like your 'Alabaster' (laminex colour). It's not as startling as Classic White - almost has a tiny hint of cream. Think this colour could be what I'm after! Re: Classic White Cabinets & Ice Snow C/S Benchtop 7Feb 01, 2009 1:19 pm mozzi26 Thanks guys. Love all your kitchens. Stormy, your kitchen is very similar to mine. I like your 'Alabaster' (laminex colour). It's not as startling as Classic White - almost has a tiny hint of cream. Think this colour could be what I'm after! Just make sure you collect several different samples of ALL the whites! There are many! I found Alabaster to be a warm white, not a cold white like Polar white (laminex). It almost has a pinkish tinge to it, whereas something like New Antique white (laminex) has a yellow tinge! Also don't forget to take into consideration the other colours (walls and splashback). Our wall colour is pretty much exactly the same tones as Alabaster, just a lot deeper. Some whites can look 'dirty' against other colours... Good luck!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! You're so right - I need to collect a few more samples of the different whites. I agree that the Alabaster has a warmer look to it, and that's exactly the sort of thing that I'm after. I have Hog Bristle (Dulux) throughout the house and Self-Destruct (which is in the same tone, but 2 shades darker) will be used for the splashback. I have chocolate accents throughout the house, so I think a warmer white is probably what I'm looking for, rather than a cold white. And since, the CS colour I'm getting (like yours) isn't a cold white either, I just think something a tincy bit warmer on the cabinets will do just the trick.
Thanks for the tips! You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
