You can drop a sharp knife and it just anchors itself in the cork, you can pull it out and it doesn't leave a mark, glasses bounce and plates stay in tact .... so he tells me.
Can't say I like the thought of cork, the image in my mind isn't exactly stylish but maybe it isn't so bad.
