To be honest I don't know where the laminates Poggenpohl use come from - Renomart might be able to enlighten us more on that one. BUT...from looking at their colour/material listings (they don't provide any Product Data Sheets) I would assume that their fine grained melamine and gloss laminates are of the same standard as the higher end local products, e.g. Diamondgloss, Crea AR+...there are a few other hard wearing high gloss laminates around. As I believe was discussed on this forum a few years ago (you might remember when... '06ish) it is about specification and build quality that really make these kitchens stand out - and that is equally achievable using a local manufacturer and local materials (I believe that there are only a handful of actual high volume laminate factories in the world [excluding China] anyway, they are just selling it to different brands), but one still has to be prepared to pay for it as the market is geared for high volume mid range production and if a cabinetmaker goes away from that path to build a high end kitchen he/she needs to get paid for it. Anyway, what about that stainless kitchen you were going to get me to do for you? Cheers, Earl Re: High Quality Kitchens 22Jan 25, 2009 4:01 pm If i had my choice i would have:
All cabinets to be hung off the floor to stop bending down so much or be nmounted on a mirrored acrylic covered half plinth - makes the kitchen look as though its floating and the plumbing is hidden Pot drawers everywhere, soft close and servo drawers are a waste for the purpose-full metal sided is fine-must have door buffers though. Oven, microwave, fridges, freezer etc to be raised off the ground to improve access, hidden behind doors. I would never have a big fridge, 2 x 280ltr fridges and a freezer to match in size is sufficient and easier ergonomically for access once risen. I designed a series of lights which double up as a powerpoint. They are wall mounted or ceiling hung and look great so would have these instead of over head flouros or downlights. I chose laminate because my colour tastes change too much and these would be cheap enough to replace whenever. I would not have open shelving because i hate cleaning and dust would be everywhere all the time. Clean, simple and harmonious is how i would describe my high quality kitchen However if it was going in my house... Ideally i would love a round kitchen, yes round. There is something about it that i cant seem to get out of my head, i have only seen a very small amount of these mainly due to the cost but they are amazing...wow factor! Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!! SmartPack did the kitchens for Channel 9's Home Made TV Show "is it exempt or do I need to get permission from council" Call your Council and ask them 1 1764 It's MGP 10 which means every length has been machine graded to it's specified engineered strength. It may not look pretty and if you where hand picking your timbers you… 1 431 It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes.
