Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 12, 2009 7:23 pm I am looking at the new electrolux E line multifunction oven.
I can't decide between the gas on ceramic glass cooktop EHGC95AS or the ceramic EH96CS which has an oval element I could use when making gravy in the roasting pan. I know you have more control with gas but I wondered if this new ceramic one is good ,has anyone got one? The last time I had ceramic the element turned on and off thermostatically which made it hard when cooking pasta etc. With gas the heat is constant until you decide to turn it down. Help what would you do? Also is it worth paying and extra $250 to have 900 wide compared to 600 to get the extra burner 5 in total. This amound includes the larger rangehood. From my personal experience, I would probably go the gas with ceramic base, than just the ceramic. I used gas for 12 years in our previous home, and are currently using electric ceramic in our temp accom while the house is built. I (personal opinion only) can't stand the ceramic. It takes ages to heat up, then hours to cool down afterwards, I find it very time consuming to clean (spills get baked on as surface remains hot for ages afterwards), and it does scratch easily if you are not careful. (Dragging pots across from one plate to another). The ceramic plate I'm using is Westinghouse (I think, not home to check!), and is only 3 years old. I much prefer the quick response time with gas! Is the extra 5th burner a wok burner? If you are going to use it, then go for the 900 wide. You could use this for your gravy in the roasting pan? Mmmm, getting hungary thinking about it! We've gone for the 900 wide with Wok burner, and can't wait! The gas with ceramic base could still be tricky to clean, but I'm used to an enamel surface, yet to use stainless steal, so it could be the same, not sure! At least you wouldn't have to worry about scratches on the ceramic with gas as the pots won't come in contact with it. I do love the sleek look about it, though! That one is one I was thinking of the 5th burner is just a normal burner. I could go 600 wide 4 burner and still have the wok burner. I havnt had one of those before so it could heat up more area of a roasting pan than a normal burner, which would be comparable to a fish burner. I have managed without a fish burner all these years I just thought it a good feature to have but I would only use it once a week at most. Dont know if its worth the extra money for that extra burner that we may only use when cooking extra vegies like at xmas time. They also do a more slim version of ceramic gas but I dont know which one I like the best! In my last rental I had problems with the ceramic element it was high one min then turned down the next the redness kept dissaperaring thats why I thought it was something to do with the thermostat. At least with gas you dont get that problem, its just hard to clean if anything boils over as you have to clean all the little pieces., Know where your going in life............... you may already be there 4 10822 I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black. The problem is how close can I build to the gas hot water unit? Will I be able to build around it and be… 0 20230 you need a fridgie to answer but I would think you vac the whole system then add gas if you have a leak, unless it is new install with the gas already loaded, in that case… 1 3657 |
