Say I can't afford the Glass Splashback (I am hoping I can). Would tiles or paint look better? I get tiles included anyway so I would probably prefer to use them over paint. What do people think? What colour Glass Splashback? What colour tiles? Would you use just paint? Everyone's help is great. (btw I will post photos once the place is built, expected around April to June 09) Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 22Jan 09, 2009 1:22 pm The white in your pic looks great. You could do this in glass or tiles and it would still look clean and crisp. Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 23Jan 09, 2009 1:37 pm Yes fairy blue……funny how trends repeat themselves…….often!
Fitnhealthy, you will need more than just paint as a splash back over the sink and stove. My cousin thought she could get away with it, and it looks shocking now. If you can’t afford the glass a basic white tile will look just as good, and is far cheaper to do. You will need to go to your range hood height over the stove, but taper it down to about 3 tiles, (depending on the size of tile) for above the sink. In the other areas of the work bench, you really don’t need any. I love the long slim ones or the mosaic tiles. They are a pain to clean but look spectacular in the right kitchen I have to mention you always look good in your avatar pics michelle:) Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!! I think I will stick to white tiles in the kitchen as a splashback and save my money for all the other things I need to buy.
Toni isn't chocolate pear fantastic! Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 28Jan 11, 2009 9:51 pm yes it is, I had a guy the other day at the tile shop try to get me to buy an off white, beige sorta colour for my tiles, but i also think i am going to stick with white......otherwise i will end up with a lot of different colours Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 29Feb 02, 2009 2:41 pm The day I went in for my final cupboard selections at the joinery place I picked up a colour from the Karaboard range and I think it was Mocha. It had the nice lines through it (straight), but as I had always made my mind up I thought I better stick to the original choice, but I keep thinking what if... I'm not sure it might be too late to even change my mind (although I haven't signed the final selections through the builder yet)...
Does anyone have a copy of the Karaboard colours? I had a look on their website, but they didn't have the one I was looking at... I wish I hadn't looked at other options when I went in now LOL.... Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 30Feb 02, 2009 2:49 pm cough cough...I have lost count how many times I changed my kitchen just last week, at the 11th hour I changed my handles for the third time....all my stuff is ordered now so I can't change anymore I won't buy anymore kitchen magazines either, I would hate to see something I would just die for Although, I did only change the colours once, back in the beginning which is pretty good.
I like what you chose, a lot...don't do it to yourself Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 31Feb 02, 2009 2:59 pm Thanks Suh, do you think it is just normal to doubt your choices?
I keep thinking there is something better out there... I also keep seeing other kitchens around. I need to put blinkers on LOL... You are probably right I loved them at the beginning and I still do. I need to stop thinking!!! I just need a kick everynow and then in the right direction... I am sure the colours will look great once they are built. I like what you chose, a lot...don't do it to yourself ROFL same !! Our plans started with just changing the door/drawer handles for <$400 as a cheap spruce up, then we thought might as well do the doors and a cheap benchtop as well but to keep <$2500 in total. Then i thought if i knock out that wall there and move this here maybe i can do this.. etc etc for about 5 more levels.. End result : * Entire kitchen gutted and removed * all floor tiles throughout entire house removed, replaced with Black butt solid timber * double brick pantry demolished and removed * all new cabinets, doors, drawers, stone benchtop, handles, sink + vege spray, appliances, paint, glass splashbacks, kickplates etc * kitchen now wider and longer.. we've also changed colour schemes, materials and finishes about 5 times so far !! the mrs was stoked when she came home to see this hahaha.. more pics to come when completed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Kitchen colour selections - Help 2nd thoughts (Karaboard?) 34Feb 03, 2009 11:06 am HAHAHA
