Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 05, 2009 12:34 pm Hello everyone,
I have huge problem and hope you may give me some advice. Well, I hired a company Hollywood Bathrooms/Latti Constructions from Willoughby for renovating my apartment. Its rather small job, new kitchen, some wall work, plumbing , shelves, etc The company said they will finish work in 3 weeks, which is said in contract. However they seems to be quite slow with their work. 3 weeks passed and even more weeks. Work goes very slowly, somebody is coming for few hours and then for next few days nothing is happening. I tried to talk with them, but was always was bumped out by secretary and she was never able to connect me with person who manages this job. When finally I got to him he said he never agreed to any deadline and refuse to provide any reasonable time to finish this work. All that sounds very ******* to me. How can I force Hollywood Bathroom and Kitchens to finally finish the project and how can I compensate all time I am not leaving in my apartment, which is very inconvenient and expensive. Any help will be very appreciated! Thanks in advance, SydneyRenovation Re: Very slow renovation by Hollywood Bathrooms & Kitchens 2Jan 05, 2009 1:32 pm Give the department of fair trading a call.
They have helped us out considerably with bad work practices Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!! SmartPack did the kitchens for Channel 9's Home Made TV Show Re: Very slow renovation by Hollywood Bathrooms & Kitchens 3Jan 05, 2009 1:38 pm Thanks SmartPack.
I already called them, but not much help from them in my case. They said I can talk with builder to try resolve the issue, which I did and result is not satisfactory. So they advised I can make complaint, but thats all they can formally advice. Of course I can go to solicitor, but I dont want to touch this line yet. Any other toughs, experiences with slow builders? Maybe they should pay them a visit!!! Kitchens are like finger prints, no two are ever the same!! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it. W.C. Fields Brought Established. There ia a govenrment agency which deals with things like this, but for the life of me I cant remember who they are (SmartPack is probably right with it being the office of fair trading) Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! I think the name would have put me off, it made me look twice at your post, I thought you were a spammer. Hollywood ………not a lot of thought when into that name. SmartPack: I could find few people. Here and there, but I would prefer to deal it with more civilized maner Wingies: I did talk and pushed solicitor argument in talk with Hollywood Bathrooms. They said they are happy to go to court. Whats a strange attitude. Rather then do the job in proper manner they prefer to *** off clients. Also I already talked with solicitor. There are few option, some are bad and others are nasty, but I will wait just a bit more. Bam: No there is no clause about overtime. My mistake I did not ask about that. I could understand some small delayes, it happens, but at this stage project already take twice it was said and still long way to go. Michelle: Name is name. They where quick to response, quick to take a look and make quots. Even the first week look like work was going well. Then bang, dirty buildrs tricks. Well, I will see how it goes. My final though after this experience: STUDY LAW AND PREPARE 100+ PAGES CONTRACT BEFORE DOING ANY RENOVATION, EVEN SMALL ONE. Very sad, really. Anyway thanks a lot, sydney renovation Re: Very slow renovation by Hollywood Bathrooms & Kitchens 9Jan 07, 2009 10:49 pm Mind if I ask how much you have paid to them as a non-refundable deposit? Might explain their attitude towards going to Court... Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Oddly enough I live nearby and I am also renovating my kitchen. I visited the 'showroom' which as you would be aware is a run-down townhouse with the living room converted into a kitchen showroom. The saleswoman (or the person living there?) seemed surprised that we showed up and had left all the doors locked even though it had an open sign on the door and had a 'we're open' sign outside. Then the name of the company, etc. Overall I thought it sounded ******* but then I thought hmmm maybe I shouldn't judge a book by its cover and they might give a good price since they won't have much showroom overheads to cover. So I was about to phone them to organise an appointment to get a quote but now I won't be and it probably serves me as a warning for other shops I come across which give off the same impression.
