Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 29, 2008 8:26 pm Hi everyone, attached is our kitchen plan. The draftee has just guessed where the pantry, fridge etc will be, this has to be finalised soon. We would appreciate any tips on where to situate fridges, pantry, dishwasher etc. We are thinking of an integrated kitchen. So we have to keep that in mind.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I hppe the pic is attached and is not too small, had to copy from pdf to photoshop. Thanks http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/4071/kitchenit4.jpg two with sauce please Re: Kitchen Design (pic attached) 4Dec 30, 2008 3:53 pm Hi Juzzo,
Are you able to provide some overall dimensions i.e. wall to wall on the two walls? Also are there any windows? How wide is the fridge cavity allowance? Will you be having a canopy range hood or a built in unit? The proposed layout is pretty standard - some inclusions I would consider would be do you want a wall mounted microwave and do you possibly want to incorporate this into a tall unit with the oven wall mounted instead of under the cooktop? A quick layout is easy to put together if you can provide some of this information. Cheers, Earl Re: Kitchen Design (pic attached) 5Dec 30, 2008 6:04 pm Thanks for your reply Strummer.
Wall to wall dimensions (top to bottom) 3790mm. Side dimensions (cooktop wall to fridge wall) 2340mm. There are no windows, island bench faces onto alfresco and solid wall on cooktop side. We are looking at an integrated rangehood and fridge, with wall mounted MWO and oven. We are thinking of a corner pantry and maybe fridge to stay where it is. Tandem drawers under cooktop bench and overhead cupboards. Maybe stainless steel surface on cooktop bench and glass splashback and probably ceasarstone on island bench. A dishwasher has to go somewhere. The top third or so of the island bench could be opened underneath for seating with 2 legs at the end if you know what I mean. But any ideas would be appreciated and thanks again for replying. Juzzo two with sauce please Re: Kitchen Design (pic attached) 6Dec 30, 2008 7:06 pm Hi Juzzo,
Here is a quick run I took at it based on your initial requirements. Biggest problem at the moment is that the corner pantry and the microwave/wall oven tower have to be the widths they are which only leaves 708mm for the fridge. An alternative might be to do the same corner pantry, oven tower, fridge combo in the top left corner instead of the bottom right - this would mean a bifold corner on the bottom left or a set of Blum corner drawers... See what you think. Cheers, Earl Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Kitchen Design (pic attached) 7Dec 31, 2008 8:06 am Wow, thanks for you time and effort Earl.
I would paste an example pic of what we like but can not copy it from the Medallion Homes website. If you have time the kitchen we like the look of is the one in the Pavillion (Medallion Homes), the fourth pic. http://www.medallionhomes.com.au/ This kitchen has a corner pantry but not an angled door like the one you drew. The door pulls out from the corner and when open ****** parallel with the oven in the pic, forgive my ignorance, I don't know what the type of door is called. It pulls out and moves to the left to sit infront of the wall oven, if you know what i mean. This should give more room for the fridge? An interesting altenative too, so much to think about when deciding on a kitchen layout. Again, thanks a heap for your drawing and advice. Thanks for the reply. A few notes to the plan you have provided vs. the kitchen in the photo... There is no return wall in the photo at the end of the run where your fridge cavity is indicated - there is also no fridge next to the oven tower, that appears to be another pantry. The pantry in the photo appears to be a standard unit that does not extend all the way into the corner...the bench then continues "behind" the pantry - the wall units next to the pantry finish in line with the front of the pantry, so there is a niche like space behind the wall units and behind the pantry approximately 600mm x 600mm; but I could be wrong, that is just the impression I get from that photo - I would love to see an actual plan of that kitchen. I'm not sure what you mean about the corner pantry door - do you pull on the handle so the door comes toward you, then it slides to the left in front of the oven? - or is it just hinged on the left hand side so that it swings open in front of the oven? If I get some time I will try to knock up another variation of my plan based on what is displayed in that photo - but I suspect that the pictured kitchen is not a design that will fit as easily into the space you appear to have on your building plans. Cheers, Earl Re: Kitchen Design (pic attached) 12Dec 31, 2008 11:55 am Thanks Earl,
I didnt notice the return wall on our plan! I don't think we need one if we want our kitchen to look similar to the photo. I have been in this display home and I am fairly sure that the space to the left of the oven is an integrated fridge. The pantry does extend all the way into the corner and does open by pulling out and then sliding to the left, the way you explained. The pantry has curved shelves that extend into the corner space. We may have to have the oven at the other end of the kitchen if size doesnt permit in our plan. In this kitchen they also have small fridge and freezer at the other end, either above and/or below the coffee machine. The ebony vennered island has 4 deep drawers at the front. Again thanks for your time, I hope I explained myself clear enough, if not I'll try again.
