Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 27, 2008 8:47 pm Hey homeoners,
We are now at Completion Stage with Carlisle - the Atlantique Mk2. I just need some advice on our kitchen colours, and tell me what you think. Overhead Cabinets: Espresso Ligna & Antique White Perspex Doors Base Cabinets: Oyster Linea Kickboard: Stainless Steel Laminate Benchtop: Caesar Stone Osprey Glass Splashback: Sparkling Shiraz on clear glass. I don't know how to post photos, but if you look on http://www.realestate.com.au/realestate ... /105430162 , you can have an idea of our kitchen style. It is an L shape kitchen with timber bifold servery window. Has anyone got a clearfloat glass splashback? Will I need downlights under the overheads? Will the colours work well? Regards Re: AtlantiqueMk2 - Kitchen Advice Please 2Dec 28, 2008 3:56 pm My splashback is clear float glass, and we're more than happy with it. But the colour we chose was in the blue-green range anyway, so there was no issue for us with the greenish tint. I'm not sure how it would look with your burgundy - your best bet is to get a sample of the colour and have a look at it under both types of glass.
We didn't add downlights under our overhead cupboards, but we have a 900mm rangehood which casts a lot of light. The bench either side of the stove isn't our main work area anyway, so it hasn't been a problem. If you think you might be doing a lot of food preparation there, you probably should consider some additional lighting. It's always better to do it during the build rather than after. We didn't think about a downlight in the bulkhead over our appliance cupboard, and it's a bit dark there.... Assuming it's a rich deep burgundy-red, I think the combination should work well. Have you got swatches and samples of everything and tried putting them together? And don't forget your flooring and wall/ceiling colours - you need to see everything together. Re: AtlantiqueMk2 - Kitchen Advice Please 4Dec 28, 2008 4:44 pm I’m not familiar with the Sparkling Shiraz either.
