Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 19, 2008 5:29 pm Hi everyone,
We're getting our builder to provide us with a plaster cavity for our appliance tower which we'll be installing after handover. Just need to confrim how wide we need the cavity to be. Will we be right to just go 600mm wide or should we allow more ie. would we need another board between the plaster and the actual tower for support? If we do, what would be the required width? Thanks in advance! Re: How wide does my cavity need to be for my appliance tower? 2Nov 19, 2008 6:14 pm The actual oven fascia will need some cleats or studs to screw up against - these are often the gables of a 600mm (external) oven cavity carcass.
As long as you have the ability to provide something for the fascia to fix into (such as cleats attached to the studs of your cavity) you do not neccesarily need any extra boards - just as long as there is adequate support underneath and sturdy anchorage behind the installed appliances.
