Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 28, 2024 9:49 pm Hi all, Very novice renovator contemplating stepping up and actually doing some of the demolition for my middle floor apartment kitchen remodel myself, to cut costs on the project (I would mostly just be doing the removing of the splashback tiles and the wall cabinets, everything else done by the builder). Can anyone give me any advice about removing kitchen cabinets that have powerpoints inside, and most importantly, a main switchboard? I am thinking I will have to get a sparkie out to ensure everything is isolated and safe, and also remove the front of the switchboard so that I can then start to unscrew and remove all the upper cabinets from the wall? Any ideas or info on how much they tend to charge just to do simple tasks like that? *side note* I was considering getting my builder to knock out the air brick in the wall cavity where the common area greywater pipe goes down (there was a leak, so some of the paneling was removed by strata plumber to repair it) & install a rangehood that vented out through the wall to the outside. He quoted me $700 including the material to do it, but since I'm cutting back on the costs everywhere I'm thinking I may just go with a new (& definitely much less ideal) 'recirculating' one instead. I don't want to just vent into that wall cavity due to the oil & grease & fumes etc, so I figure it's either spend more money to build an external vent for a ducted rangehood, or just accept that most apartments only have crappy recirculating ones anyway. Anyway, since I'm just learning everything, please be nice! All feedback & help much appreciated Cheers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ thanks, yes they are dry , thats a good idea with fish oil as sanding will be hard 4 10604 Thank you again Simeon..
