Craftwood® is a Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) that is stable, homogeneous with a super fine finish. It cuts, drills and routes cleanly, without chipping or splintering, unlike timber and other wood panel products. APPLICATIONS Craftwood® MDF is recommended for interior applications only, such as detailed joinery, lacquered furniture, furniture mouldings, built-in furniture, shelving, wall linings and partitions (if used with suitable feature jointing systems), pattern making, toys, clocks and trophies. Note: Craftwood MDF should not be exposed to damp conditions or high humidity. Re: Painted Craftwood Doors? 4Nov 01, 2008 7:23 pm sorry............... Sorta says it all really...Craftwood is just another MDF product...which is what most two packed boards are...we have supplied and installed many, but not many from Laminex as there are cheaper alternatives of equal quality. Cheers, Earl Re: Painted Craftwood Doors? 6Nov 02, 2008 8:54 am What are the cheaper alternatives? Currently looking at re doing the kitchen. Have looked at different doors. Do not want vinyl wrap was thinking of laminate with the edging. What would be a good durable door type? Re: Painted Craftwood Doors? 7Nov 02, 2008 9:06 am Sorry - I actually meant that there are cheaper two pack painted MRMDF door suppliers than Laminex...just get in touch with a local cabinet maker to find out more...
BUT - yes, 2mm edged flat colourboard doors are a very cost effective and durable option, especially now that a few suppliers are fabricating melamine in "Sheen" or semi gloss finishes - looks great, is easy to work with and holds up very well. To my mind colourboard (melamine) is still one of the most practical materials to have kitchen doors and drawers made of.
