Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 01, 2008 9:06 am Hi all
I'm hoping to replace my current laminex benchtop (with rounded front) with a 30mm Quartz slab with flat front. Is there a correct depth for the benchtop (ie...distance between back wall and front edge), and is there an appropriate front overhang? Just for the normal benches (ie...not for putting stools under) my current overhang looks a little short. I think it's actually around 25mm. cheers Satz Re: advice please...benchtop depth and front overhang 2Nov 01, 2008 12:31 pm 600mm tops will cover conventional cabinets and have room for most styles of sinks and cooktops.
Overhang often depends on the profile of the top i.e. a 34mm 180 degree radius postformed top requires at least 17mm in front of the cabinet doors. 25mm in front of the doors is quite standard - if you want more you just have to specify it, but I think that with a nice square (pencil edge) top 25mm in front of the doors looks pretty good. Cheers, Earl In the end, two pieces of treated timber (20mm thick) were bolted onto the joists and planed when there was too much sticking out. Passed inspection. 13 7830 Thanks Ardo, they are sort of semi concealed. I think it is only a few millimetres. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 3808 The distance between my DEBs varies from 4.1m at the narrowest to 8.1m at the widest. 5 27331 |
