And then maybe put a 'drawer-fridge' in the island for something different? Just a sideways thought! I reallyyy think maintaining the two clean lines (one dark timber wall, one white cabinetry/bench) would be worth the effort!! But otherwise, yep...agree that the right works best Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 42Nov 02, 2008 9:29 pm Drawer fridges are so expensive ..... I just bought a ridiculous amount of appliances..... no more!
Yes donuts... that dead corner is the WIP. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 44Nov 02, 2008 9:45 pm donuts Have you thought about swapping the bar bit and the WIP? then maybe you could fit your appliance tower in the dark side cabinet bit? What do you mean? Put the bar in the kitchen and the pantry out of the kitchen? That wouldn't work I don't think....... It would be really awkward if there was people over and trying to cook and get drinks.... I'm not prepared to make the kitchen unworkable just in order to fit the appliance tower on the wall. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 46Nov 02, 2008 9:51 pm Hey Joles
I think it'll all work out, putting the tower in that right side corner and basically continuing the dark wall around the corner! Are you going to change all the low cabinetry to the same dark finish, like in D@n's photo? If you do that...maybe you'd be better off continuing the theme along the top as well...? Either way, I still think it will look stunning - and I'm pretty fussy when it comes to kitchens By the way...u don't have any pics of the 'bar' area do you? Just curious! Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 47Nov 02, 2008 9:52 pm donuts ok fair enough sorry I didn't think the bar bit was *that* far away from the rest of the kitchen. Was wrong obviously! No it's not.... but the bar would be on the wall in the kitchen... that's the bit that I don't get.... As far as the bar goes.... I'm very conscious of not incorporating it into the kitchen proper because the gap between is a traffic area through to bedrooms and bathroom.... it becomes an accident waiting to happen to be going between the two kitchen areas in the normal workings of the kitchen.... say if it was a pantry. I grew up in an unworkable kitchen.... I'm very conscious of not making another one. I have to stop thinking about it... it's doing my head in a bit. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 52Nov 03, 2008 5:59 pm Jo, I hate it sorry. I think it ruins the lines of the kitchen. Are you 100% certain you can't incorporate it onto the wall? I'm going to go look at your plans, I reckon there's got to be a way. Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 54Nov 03, 2008 6:48 pm ok I believe you, it won't fit. It looks like the space is much longer than it really is in the picture.
How about putting some of those appliances into the walk in pantry? Your kitchen is actually very similar to mine and I didn't want to ruin the look of the back with a wall unit so we will probably have the microwave in the pantry, or in a lower cabinet. Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 56Nov 03, 2008 7:19 pm SuH I am putting my microwave under the island, but if I were lucky enough to have a wak-in pantry I would definitely put it in there. Interesting...we currently have it in the WIP and are more than happy to get it out of there. If we were defrosting or reheating meals in the microwave the smell would stay in the pantry and you couldn't always leave the door open. Now that the new oven is in place we've got a cabinet maker lined up to put a microwave nook above the oven. I'm assuming you don't mean a butlers pantry? mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 57Nov 04, 2008 6:00 am We don't have a butlers pantry, just a regular one. We don't use the microwave very much actually, the only thing we use it for really is for warm milk and hot chocolate before bed for the kiddies, but still undecided if we'll put it in the pantry or create a spot under the bench. Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 58Nov 04, 2008 7:35 am Good Melbourne Cup Morning....well Jo I was ****** in bed at 1am thinking of your kitchen, this has become a habit over the last year - thinking about kitchens in the middle of the night and, I think having the tower in the corner in the dark colour will look different - but really good. To me you don't sound like you are someone who follows the norm anyway, it will be different but honestly think it will be a fresh, new idea. You need to go with what you want, and I know you will. I have a friend who is a lot like you, she put in a new kitchen about 5 years ago. She went against all kitchen rules and put all her appliances and cupboards around the walls with nothing but her dining table in the middle of the room. 5 years ago it was very very different but now it looks totally unique and very trendy. My point...do what YOU want think I already said that. Re: Jo's kitchen....all appliances will fit in the big wall!! 59Nov 07, 2008 10:59 am Bloody kitchen...
I've spent all morning trying to tweak it and now I'm thinking I'll have two towers.... one each side.... one with the steam oven and microwave.... and I'll get a coffee machine and put it in the other tower with the warming drawer and still keep the bar area. And I might put another small sink in the bar area on the back wall so it can double as another clean up area..... Would that look ok? Someone help me..... my answer to everything is to buy more appliances. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
