Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 28, 2023 6:52 pm Hi, all. I used t o be a member here years ago, built a house in 2013. anyway I am wanting to change my kitchen benchtop - I had in mind a white top with sort of speckly bits. But not sure how 'real life proof' that would be My current bench top is quite dark and hard to look clean - shows smear marks and such. Would there be issues with a very light top as far as keeping looking clean goes or durability over time? Opinions? Re: kitchen bench in very light colour? 2Jun 29, 2023 11:41 am In my opinion the more 'swirls', 'speckles', 'colour changes' the better as every single benchtop has smear marks and small blemishes, it's just how easy it is to see. Black/dark shows light dust and light crumbs really obviously. I have a white (Caesar Stone - Pure White) and it requires frequent cleaning to look its best. Over time there have also been some small marks which are very stubborn, although quite small and not obvious to anyone but myself. I think if I were to go again, I would go for something with more pattern, even "marbling" like the Empira White (Caesar stone), just so it has more variety. In saying this, I understand a cleaner 'one tone' is more stylish and something more 'speckled' may not be the aesthetic you're after. At the end of the day, I'm happy with my choice, despite needing to maintain/clean it a bit more than I'd like.
