Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 28, 2008 8:38 pm Hi all,
Can anyone advise me about purchasing quality flat pack (perhaps assembled) cabinets. I like the Blum soft close and I prefer the shelves to be fixed in a manner better than adjustable steel pins. Basically I have someone to provide a good benchtop and need a number of cabinets for the new kitchen. Mostly people offer a design service and won't disclose any catalogue prices. As we have our own design we just want the cabinets (poyester/vacuum formed with a gloss finish perhaps). thanks to all who reply. hats Re: Flat pack with Blum wanted 2Oct 29, 2008 8:16 am A few of the guys here should be able to provide you some quotes or rough prices provided you have a drawing of what you want.
I bought all my Blum Tandembox softclose sets from ebay. Cost me $250 for 5 sets of 500mm deep ones. 4 x 180 high and 1 x 90mm high. Re: Flat pack with Blum wanted 3Oct 29, 2008 9:36 am A lot of the people providing custom made unassembled kitchen cabinetry make them to order.
The costing of a made to order kitchen depends on a number of variables such as number of cabinets, board colour et cetera - the specific size of an order can effect the amount of material that needs to be purchased and so on... I am sure that anyone who does not supply a pricing catalogue will be happy to give you a quote to meet exactly your needs if you provide them with a plan and a list of your requirements e.g. what type of drawer hardware, profile/pattern on the coated doors, handles and so on. I would tend to be happier dealing with someone who quotes my specific job as it shows that they have not developed a pricing range matrix that has a built in allowance for all the variables in a particular item; they are instead sitting down and calculating exactly what is needed for each individual job. Ring up some of your local suppliers and ask them about this, and make sure that you find out where all of the materials they use come from - a lot of imported products have a cheaper price tag that is often directly indexable to their quality; Australian made boards and cabinets have to adhere more rigorously to Australian standards.
