Seems like engineered Stone is being banned.
Has anyone used the alternative Caesarstone Porcelain benchtops, has anybody used the Caesarstone Porcelain? Where does it sit in the price range compared to the products, Natural, Super nat, etc?

Yes there are risks to silica dust, but the media has made a huge bust up about it without consideration about the industries and products where silica dust is present. The porcelain products also have silica dust risks. Concrete, natural stone, tiles, porcelain etc. Was talking to a stone mason last week about this (came to do some work at my place), and he pointed Some states already have serious oversight in place. He was saying his business has sealed rooms for cutting with Propper extraction for any escape from the wet cutting practice. Wear head to toe overalls, masks and have proper decontamination procedures for removing workwear etc. All Staff, including office staff get lung capacity tests yearly and imaging done. there have been no adverse effects found in the 10 years they've been doing this. He did say he had a colleague in another state where none of this except wet cutting is present. He also pointed out that the screening he has his staff undergo has identified other underlying health issues that would not have been identified without the screening, so the outcome has been more positive in that respect. His biggest issue he had now was disposing of the slurry waste as tips that used to take it, but now wont, even though its bagged up better than asbestos all the while theres big excavators crushing down concrete waste in the open air kicking up dust 20 meters away from the tip workers. Its crazy. Its 99.99% doubtful these products will be banned. They will be adjusted, compliance will be enforced, Propper controls will need to be in place, inspections will occur, fines will be handed out and mandatory screening for health issues will likely become standard etc. If they banned the stone, they'd have to ban hundreds of other products and impact several other professions. Its just not going to happen. Re: Caesarstone Porcelain benchtops 4Mar 02, 2023 11:05 am strannik i do wonder why they cannot just ship the dust back to the manufacturer to be reused in manufacturing... for the same reason they dont just treat sewerage and pump it back into our water supply. Its not the same. The slurry has glues, material changes due to extreme heat etc. its not a 1:1. If it was economical or 1:1 substitution with no additional processing, they'd be doing it. For the gum tree stains you'll need to use a chlorine based cleaner to remove them. Something like this will work pretty good: https://miteq.com.au/masonry-cleaner-303/… 1 4935 |
