Re: Westinghouse or Omega!!?? 5Nov 10, 2008 9:22 am amanda26 Hi ya, I would go with Omega it's made by Smeg! Great selling piont when you go sell although I have never used either I have just bought Omega for my new place! True but you still get what you pay for. Even the 'Euro Appliances' have a low end range. A colleague of mine had her cheap Smeg cooktop fail within months of purchase. If you want a 60cm oven with large INTERNAL dimensions then the Westinghouse Boss is one of the biggest. However, its control panel is made of cheap materials. NEFF and Bosch also have a large capacity. We chose the Highland cooktop because of its large gas output (for Wok Cooking) and low simmer settings. Neff and Tudor also do powerful ones. Our friend's Tudor trivets look pretty rusty after a few years. When going for rangehood power, air flow is the main consideration. However, there are no standards in reporting this. Some quote the 'bench' flow rate and others will quote a 'real-life application' where it is measure after its passed through the ducting and grille (about 10% lower). The dimensions and shape of the canopy is important. It should fully enclose the cooktop edges. If you have joinery on each side, that will also help contain the fumes. Lastly, you need a source of make up air. Air that goes out must be matched with air that goes in otherwise the fan works against too much negative pressure. |
