Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 30, 2021 5:15 am Hi there good morning, i have a big problem . My cabinet maker made wrong doors on my kitchen, I wanted the pull handle and he put handles on that I didn't even choose. He is saying that to change it to pull he will have to make completely new kitchen?!!! I think he can just t change my doors because it's completely different look to what I ordered! Help please , solutions Re: My cabinet maker installed wrong kitchen 2Sep 30, 2021 9:08 am Have you got documentation that proves he has installed the incorrect handles? Have you already paid him? Where are you based? This will impact if he has to be licenced or if the job has to be supervised. How much was the total quoted price of the job? Re: My cabinet maker installed wrong kitchen 3Sep 30, 2021 11:27 am Hi Emina That's so sad that your new kitchen isn't what you expected. Just so I understand. When you say you wanted pull handles I assume you wanted recessed finger pulls, where you use the top of the actual door or drawer to pull it open. I'm surprised that your cabinet maker didn't get you to sign off on a final design including specifications that would have included hardware, colours, handles etc. It is critical as a supplier that your clients know exactly what they are getting and sign off on it. It stops this scenario from developing. Recessed finger pulls do require additional work to the actual carcasses. It is very hard to do it once the kitchen has been installed. It is very close to having to make the kitchen again. That's why I'm amazed that the cabinet maker and you are so far apart on the expectations. A recessed finger pull kitchen would have cost more from the start due to the additional work. The only way you could get close to what you wanted without having to redo the kitchen would be to opt for push to open. You would still have no handles but wouldn't have the gaps between benchtop and doors and the drawers. The cabinet maker could keep all the carcasses the same but use different hardware to achieve. He would also have to replace the doors and panels where he drilled for the handles. I hope you find a satisfactory resolution to this problem.
