I was concerned it would be a little boring given there is no texture anywhere else (other than the upper cabinets). The kitchen is at one end of a large open kitchen/dining/family. Re: Benchtop Colour help needed 5Apr 21, 2021 4:08 pm A smooth color will highlight your cabinets as well as your benchtop and also blend in well. Too much texture will get too crowded. But thats just my opinion. Re: Benchtop Colour help needed 6Apr 21, 2021 4:28 pm Roy Allantos A smooth color will highlight your cabinets as well as your benchtop and also blend in well. Re: Benchtop Colour help needed 8Apr 22, 2021 9:06 am Totally agree about the difficulty in deciding from small colour swatches! Yeah, a few people have commented on the darker doors but I think it will be fine. Our tastes seem to be quite different to most people's. I guess at the end of the day, if we do screw it up at least we would only need to change the doors (not that I want to have to do that!). Re: Benchtop Colour help needed 9Jun 09, 2021 12:16 pm Hye, BanjoDan! How did it go? I agree with Berek on this, the Palantino Matt looks better. It's kind of like a good mixture of all the colors that you have going on there. The Mocha Febrini will make your kitchen look darker than it actually is. Do you have pictures of your finished kitchen or is the work still going on? So sorry that you had to change from stone to laminate. But you can always do things that'll make your kitchen look like a luxury without breaking the bank. You can change the fixings of the cabinets or the sink/s to modern ones. You can also put inexpensive furnishings as decor to make it look more luxurious. See this page here to browse through more ideas. We ended up going with the Mocha Febrini but changed the upper cabinets to Taupe. They seem like they will work quite well together. I'm not too concerned about a dark kitchen - in fact I think it is a benefit as the kitchen will then hide away and not be a feature as it is against an end wall at the entrance to a long open kitchen/dining/lounge/alfresco space and that part (the kitchen bit) will naturally be a little darker anyway. For us, we're actually happy with the change to laminate. When we made the decision, we ended up spending a lot of time in kitchen showrooms and came to the conclusion that laminate was more "us" anyway. We are certainly not aiming for a luxurious house - more one that immediately feels comfortable and lived in for many years. Also suits the style of what is around us (we are building on an infill block in an older established area). But you're right - there are always ways to make it feel different through how you "finish" it. We are a loooonngggg way off building yet unfortunately. I'd say at least another month or two of messing about with Council for permits before we can start (it's only been 13 mths so far but who's counting!). Now I see why you're kind of going for a dark kitchen. But please don't forget some natural lighting or at least some bright light going on whenever you use your kitchen. It'll be hard to work there if your lighting and kitchen will be both dark. Also, this color scheme is so much better! It's a natural look that you can play with, especially with some decors and/or appliances. Sorry to hear about the permits - they're always a pain! But I hope that once you start, everything will work out just the way you guys planned, hoped, imagined it would be. Good luck! Our current kitchen is awful so well aware! I’ll be looking at under cupboard lighting and will have pendants over the island. There is a window in the kitchen so shouldn’t be too bad. There is a window in the kitchen so shouldn’t be too bad. if you can, you can maybe widen the window and add another one but from a different direction. If you can't, you can also add skylights. If there are no more ways for natural light to enter, I suggest getting lights with both blue and warm yellow undertone. With this mixture, it'll be easy for the eyes. You just have to test and see it together though. Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3622 Thank you @.
