Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 14, 2021 8:22 pm Hi all, I'm renovating my kitchen at the moment (see attached plan for kitchen and laundry). As you can see, the kitchen space measures roughly 3m by 3m, and is an open kitchen connected to a dining room also roughly 3m by 3m. The current planned design is to build an L shaped kitchen as per attached, which leaves an opening of roughly 1750mm into the kitchen. My question is, should I actually change it such that it includes a small return (as highlighted in red hand-drawn bit in attached pic)? I know a small return may not be that efficient as well as creates an additional corner cabinet which isn't efficient, not to mention restrict the flow into the kitchen a bit (if I leave a 1m opening, I can only do a 750mm return). But having looked at numerous kitchen designs on houzz, it seems that most kitchens either have an island (if space allows) or a connected return, which seems to complete the look? My concern with an L shaped kitchen without a return is aesthetics, would it look incomplete? Keen to hear your thoughts; considering the space and aesthetics, should I add a return or leave it L shaped?
