Small courtyard was just to bring some light in and do a little Japanese type garden, also with dining next to the window I was going to do a servery window to outdoor. With option 1, you could make the island into a square island as that will fit nicely in that space. It would be my second preference with a bigger square island. With the top being North, only Option1 makes sense to have an open, bright living area. May be best to have an alfresco adjoining the dining Re: Which Kitchen variation is best?... Help! 6Oct 30, 2020 3:10 pm I'd agree that having the kitchen where it is in drawing#1 is best to optimise the northern aspect. The actual design of kitchen #1 is terrible though. That whole walk in pantry is a complete waste of space. It's an enormous space just to fit a fridge (which is 100% compromised anyway) and some tiny shelves. If you removed the pantry and just incorporated it into the kitchen you would make it so much more usable. I'd also look to put an alfresco on the back of the house probably off the kitchen living so you can open up for entertaining.
