Re: Show me your kitchen... 1583Aug 06, 2011 1:03 pm After 4 agonising months I wish I could show off my completed kitchen. I have had such a bad experience with my cabinet maker. The kitchen is not to my specifications at all and the drawers didn't line up, the finish is so rough, the oven is too high. It's been a total disaster. Over a month ago I sent some drawers back to him to be fixed and I haven't heard a thing from him. He wouldn't answer the phone or respond to my emails. I finally tracked down his home phone number because I thought he had gone out of business and when I asked him what was happening he abused me. He was also supposed to supply the splashback, but has now told me to get stuffed. I have to start again on the splashback front. I can't believe anyone can be in business and be so unprofessional. I have spent more time crying over my 'dream kitchen' than anything else. Re: Show me your kitchen... 1584Aug 06, 2011 1:04 pm I just want to warn anyone who may be thinking of using this guy, please don't.
Re: Show me your kitchen... 1585Aug 06, 2011 1:25 pm Get in touch with Consumer Protection. I only know who to contact in WA- but they will be able to advise on what to do/ who to contact in your state. When I contacted them for a WA issue, this was part of the response: The department recommends that you contact the Builder's Registration Board (BRB) for information on lodging a complaint with the Building Disputes Tribunal (BDT) regarding a contractual matter. The BRB and BDT can be contacted on 9476 1200 or you can visit their websites at www.builders.wa.gov.au and www.buildingdisputes.wa.gov.au. The Tribunal can determine contractual complaints relating to lump sum home building contracts and disputes about breaches of Part II of the Home Building Contracts Act 1991 if: -the contract was entered into before 2 July 2007 and is valued between $6,000 and $200,000; or - the contract was entered into on or after 2 July 2007 and is valued between $7,500 and $500,000. If your contract amount is above these values you may wish to seek independent legal advice. In addition, before work begins, the trader/builder can require an owner to pay a deposit of no more than 6.5 per cent of the contract price. After work begins, the builder can only require an owner to make progress payments for work actually done or goods supplied. Re: Show me your kitchen... 1587Aug 06, 2011 10:50 pm ![]() I have been waiting and lurking for so long to put a photo up. I have only just learnt how to put them up, so here goes. We are deciding on glass splashback colour still, I would like metallic glass, silver grey with a bit of warmth(brown), not too dark. Had to change wires on back wall to accomodate induction cooktop. the floors aren't finished, they have a couple of coats and sands to be done. Wow! Love your kitchen colours Henroes - and that granite is just spectacular!
