Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 18, 2008 11:30 am Hi guys this ones pretty straight forward, we are having an L shaped island bench and wondered what the waterfall bench might look like, but I cant find any picys of L's with the waterfall edge Can anyone help out with pics or just opinions in general. Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 2Jun 18, 2008 11:33 am I'm still confused about the diff btw waterfall and apron, but we're having an L-shaped bench with a 40mm Quantum Quartz apron/waterfall? on each end. I don't have any photos as it's not done yet, but I think (I hope it's going to look great! Previously you were only having one and the other side was fixed to your other bench. If you want to see the 40mm in QQ for BOTH sides go into the PD website, look at the Cremorne house and then use the drop down box and look at the Pakenham Display. This kitchen has it. Sorry I think I just described it poorly the first time round, we are having the 2 sides where no edge joins the other bench. The picture from the PD site is pretty much exactly the layout so thanks heaps for the tip, didn't think to check the other locations facades. Having now seen the pic I don't think that it has as much of an impact as a standard island bench as seen in all the pretty pics on here.... now I'm not so sure the 1400 is worth it. What do you guys n gals think? What do you guys n gals think? I actually went to Pakenham to see this in person and I loved it. I saw it in so many H3nl3y homes too. I really like the effect but I think the colours in Pakenham don't really ummmmm do it justice. What colours have you selected/thinking about for your kitchen? Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 10Jun 19, 2008 11:50 am Yeah those colors aren't my thing so it does make it hard.
We are using a dark latte color (Fossil) on the bottom cupboards (and on the island) and light latte (paperbark) on the top cupboards, or the other way around, haven't 100% nailed down which way we are going there, not particularly original, I know. And the bench will be 40mm QQ New Diamond White. Some pics here http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=7398. I think the dark will be on the bottom to make the bench seem whiter as the New Diamond White is just a little off white and we may be able to play games with the colors to get the look without having to upgrade the QQ. I suppose we are driving down from Canberra (600+ K's) this weekend to sort this out so the extra driving over to Pakenham might be the way to go. Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 11Jun 19, 2008 12:05 pm I love New Diamond White, I have two good sized samples of that here as it was one of two that I had picked. When we selected our tiles at NT we asked t see the big slabs of QQ that are out the back in their warehouse. It was then that I decided on going with Ice as I was after a whiter look. M&M who have a blog have just had their NDW installed, looks really nice.
I think NDW in a waterfall will be much more of a feature than the colour used in the Pakenham display. Also with fossil for the floor cabinets it will stand out even more. It will look really nice! Have a good and safe drive! Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 12Jun 19, 2008 12:11 pm mikkyG Yeah those colors aren't my thing so it does make it hard. Hey mikkyG - our cupboards are fossil too!! We went for benchtop in ice - no waterfall for us though! Here's a pic for you! Is Ice in the standard range? I really like it, we only have samples the half the size of a playing card Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 14Jun 19, 2008 12:19 pm I love your kitchen Vanderlay. Looks really nice, doesn't need a waterfall as your different colour cabinets are a feature in itself. Loooooove the Ice! I think it will look really nice with the waterfall but if you go without them it will still look nice Ice is standard, we are having it too......cost to upgrade to cat 2 was over $1000 without the waterfall.....probably $2000 with the waterfall. Mikkyg, when you go to NT ask if Silvana (or someone else) can take you out the back to see the big slabs off QQ and take your fossil and paperbark with you. Vanderlay, what colour are your overhead cupboards? Happy at Home Re: Waterfall edge on L-shaped bench? 20Jun 19, 2008 1:40 pm Vanderlay, your kitchen looks great! MikkyG, I agree with H2B, your kitchen will look good either way, with or without the waterfall...or whatever it technically is ! I think it's just a matter of personal taste - and budget constraints!!! I would put the fossil on the bottom and the lighter (paperbark?) on the top - but that's just my opinion! We're having Ice QQ, too (with the w/fall edges) but my cupboards are polar white 2 pac, and my overheads are Oyster Linea - and my splashback is starfire white - so a very white kitchen - lol! (I think...that's another long story...) What house are you building (we're building the Brookvale)?
