I always thought here in Perth that if they didn't make provisions for the water running up from the slab where you wanted it, it was all over. Good to know it won't be too much of a hassle! And $200? I could definitely deal with that... Thanks for all your responses! *Building Virgins* constructing the Viva by Celebration Homes in Ridgewood on 576m2. It could be a completely different kettle of fish! It 'may' be more difficult than suggested. Hopefully, someone from WA reads this and offers a suggestion! I don't know enough about house construction in WA to speculate! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Now what? 7Feb 09, 2011 2:10 pm *gulp* Yes, double brick house in WA. The wall behind the fridge recess is single brick though (the games room is on the other side) but if there is an option to insert the plumbing from the roof and then use the fridge and overhead cupboards to hide it, we're willing to consider it... C'mon Perth! HELP! *Building Virgins* constructing the Viva by Celebration Homes in Ridgewood on 576m2. Follow our building adventures here: http://www.arylene.com/newhouse. Re: Forgot to get plumbing in fridge recess. Now what? 8Feb 09, 2011 2:14 pm either way not to much of a problem. It just means worst case you can see pipe on outside wall of fridge. Usually overhead above fridge should have a cavity behind it for (air circulation) thus making it easy to drop a pipe form the ceiling. Re: Forgot to get plumbing in fridge recess. Now what? 9Feb 09, 2011 3:07 pm Slightly off topic but if the fridge has a Ice maker and water dispenser will it need a drain point plumbed in? I've got a water pipe running to our fridge on our plan but not sure if i need a drain. If your only up to plate height its probably not too late to have the water pipe added. It will be cheaper than doing it once the plastering is finished. Re: Forgot to get plumbing in fridge recess. Now what? 10Feb 09, 2011 3:28 pm Writermonkey (welcome to Piara Waters BTW) now would be the time to act to get the builder to include it. You will more then likely have to pay a variation fee but worth getting it done now. The pipe will come from the ones in the roof (that service to places like shower heads/taps coming out the wall etc) - all the plumber will have to do is cut into the brickwork to put the additional pipe in. It then gets plastered over and is not visible. If you wait till after handover the plumber will have to cut into the plaster and brickwork to insert it and then it will need patching/repairing. Sorry Brendan no idea about the drain point - I wouldn't see why it would tho. Surely fridges like that have a container the overflow goes into which u can pull out to empty Built with RedInk Custom 5000 Key Handover 15/12/2009 Re: Forgot to get plumbing in fridge recess. Hey ref_kt, thanks so much for the detailed response. And yes, Piara Waters is lovely but we're building in Ridgewood — just staying with a very obliging friend at the moment... I'm emailing my building coordinator as we speak just to check on costs. Otherwise, we might just have to live without a fancy fridge and stick to our trusty Brita water jug! I'll come back with the cost to gather opinion if it's a worthwhile change. If not, $200 + my partner's handiwork (he's a plasterer/renderer) will have to do... *Building Virgins* constructing the Viva by Celebration Homes in Ridgewood on 576m2.
