Please show me your laminate benchtopped kitchens :)

There are some very attractive stone-look laminates too. We had a grey granite pattern in our old kitchen and our bathrooms and laundry in this house have benchtops that look like reconstituted stone.

Marble, granite, slate, solid colours, woodgrains.....lots of choices.

This is our old kitchen - it's rather old-fashioned now, but the benchtop is still nice. It might be a bit hard to imagine in a modern setting though.

Thinner benchtop (20mm, I think?) with shadowline.

The kitchen in the place we rented while building also had a stone-look benchtop, very similar to the bathroom laminate we have now. I'll try to track down a photo....

I am just so taken by your laundry benchtop – I love the squareness as opposed to rounded edges – is this what is meant by “pencil edge’? It is amazing the huge effect the shape of the bench alone makes! Just wow. Can you please tell me the colour – it is lovely!
Can you please also tell me the colour of the bench in the last kitchen pic?

I just love your bathroom bench but I’m not going to enquire any more about it because if I do I might just fall in love with it and need to upgrade! I have just dug out my specs and my bench tops throughout are : 180° postformed laminate edge – had a google and it seems to be the most standard of the lot!! Definitely not loving it as much as the square edge. I wonder a rough cost of changing them all to a more square edge? Couldn’t be too much surely!?

It's not actually green, netadelle....it's a bit of a crappy photo, taken with my phone. The colour is really dark beige, Wattyl "Castilian", although it does have a definite greeny tinge to it; it's not one of those pinky beiges. It's the same colour we used throughout the house.



honkey, I have no idea about costs of the various laminate shapes and forms. We got the square edge with shadowline in bathrooms as standard with our builder. The laundry, we had a choice of edges, but I can't recall what the others were - I just know that ours was "pencil round", which has a flat front but rounded corners. I think the old kitchen bench had a D-shaped edge.

The bathroom and laundry are the same: Formica Amaretto Stone. I'm pretty sure it was just in the standard range, but that can vary between builder.

I honestly can't tell you the colour of the old kitchen benchtop - I had a sample, but it was one of the many things that got chucked when we moved. There are plenty of similar ones though. Laminex Arezzo Granite is a bit like it:



Formica Umbrian Granite has similar colours in it too.
