Repairing Crack in Kitchen Bench! 2Jul 26, 2017 6:42 pm Need to know what it's made of please? Is it Corian or similar? Or is it quartz? How the heck did that happen? Re: Help! Repairing Crack in Kitchen Bench! 4Jul 26, 2017 11:54 pm It looks as if they did the whole riverdance on it! Does that hairline crack go all along to the tap? Hard to see in this pic. You could possibly do a few things... depends on if you want a complete 'as new' repair, which is tricky, or a good enough match because you intend on replacing it sooner rather than later. You could fill the large part of it with a builder's bog and 'paint' the surface with an enamel paint/ sealer. Given that it's acrylic, you could match the colour in the acrylic used for doing fingernails... sets hard, and can be sanded to match the acrylic surface. There are other types of fillers like epoxy, that can be coloured, but they are tricky to apply, and all have their pros and cons. Also, you'd have to investigate for food safety, if you prep food there at all. If you want it 'as new' then the only road is professional corian or 'solid surface' specialists. It's too hard to do it yourself without all the gear. If it's not an everyday food prep area (I assume not, behind the sink?), I would go with the fingernail acrylic myself, but then I have all that gear, and could probably match the chip pattern, colours and all. If you know anyone who does their own acrylic nails, they could probably help you out with materials. If it's an acrylic bench, the fingernail acrylic will stick and then you just pat it in, wait till it sets and sand it down flush. It's expensive to buy the materials, unless you buy them from a place like Born Pretty Store in China, or on ebay from China/HongKong and then it takes ages to arrive. There are other acrylic fillers around for various purposes, but I'd be wary as to their safety in a kitchen situation. Perhaps Google is your best mate with acrylic fillers in general? I don't know if I've helped at all there, but it really depends if you want to do a camouflage or an 'actual' repair job. Mostly those surfaces are easy for the experts to repair, however I don't know if they want your firstborn child as payment or what... Most likely poor foam installation and render installation, Joint covered with render, foam could be sitting on flashing. Do you have any render at house 4 9314 Hi - thanks for your reply.
