Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: 2 pack vs vinyl wrap price 3May 23, 2017 8:29 am Not sure if it is reasonable or not but on our build, which we just finished, we were quoted just over $10k extra to go for the 2 pack finish. Was very hard to justify the extra cost for us at that stage with so many variations rolling in. So we stuck with the standard melamine and no regrets as of yet. Re: 2 pack vs vinyl wrap price 5May 23, 2017 11:16 am froggy1976 What has surprised me is how much more a 2 pack kitchen is. Is it reasonable for a 2 pack finished kitchen to be an extra $7400? The price difference between the two doors would be no more than $2000 possibly less. Big builders just take you for a ride with extras! The $7400 was not just for our Kitchen. It includes Ensuite, Bathroom, WC and Laundry cabinets as well. Whilst I would like it cheaper, it certainly makes the pill easier to swallow. Re: 2 pack vs vinyl wrap price 7May 28, 2017 6:45 pm Hi Froggy We have just got over five quotes in for a new kitchen, and every one has been approx $2000-$2500 extra for the 2pac, which we are going with as its definitely worth it imho. Re: 2 pack vs vinyl wrap price 8May 28, 2017 8:02 pm Just remember builders get a heavy discount on their builders range product as they bulk buy. Hence why many kitchens are the same by the same builder. When changing something you go from discount price to retail hence the huge jump. Massive builders margins is why they charge so much more. My wife and I had a house build by a large spec building company, we originally got them to price to upgrade from a laminate top to a stone top in the kitchen(I was never going to have them build my kitchen) The cost of the stone upgrade price was actually three times what the stone was worth and they hadn't even taken into account the credit for the laminate top. I actually ended up having them build a shell and then I fitted the inside out. We are also doing that, keeping our butlers pantry completely empty except cappped off plumbing, then the kitchen itself just some carcasses or maybe even no kitchen, we,ll have to see during kitchen quote process, the prices even for pot drawers is just crazy, and I want marble look stone with waterfall edges, if we paid builders price all I'd get is a basic laminate kitchen with all cupboards Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
