Well well well, it seems our list of upgrades is never ending....
It seems we can take an option from PD of having Wattyl id paint in a 3 coat system - 1 undercoat and 2 top coats for $2200...
OR stick with the standard option of 1 undercoat and 1 top coat of Watty's washable velvet for free.
I asked at a few paint shops and they told me the standard option was pretty average and they would upgrade to the id. Ideally I would like to do this but $2200 seems an awful lot if there is really not much of a difference.
If we choose the standard option, I can have 10 feature walls painted - 2 in the study, 1 in the formal lounge, 2 walls in the living area, 1 in the rumpus, 2 walls in the main bedroom, 1 wall in DD's room and 1 wall in DS's room - this will cost $2000 and is definatly something I would want to do after handover anyway but it would be great to get it done at the same time as the build.
I'm mainly worried that if we only get 1 coat of 'crappy' paint we may be stuck repainting the whole 41 squares of the house later on, which will be twice as frustrating and costly in the future.
What would you do? For those building with PD and who have recieved only the standard paint option did the quality seem ok?
