Thought I'd post in here instead of Michelle's Lounge for a change . I'm looking for some advice on feature walls for the lower floor. I'm still struggling with the splashback ... I had nightmares last night about the splash ... its becoming truly tragic . Other colour options welcome . We have spotted gum floors going doing throughout the l/l and a lot of fairly dark furniture and primitive art. Walking through the front door - http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010279.jpg Three niches just inside the front door where I could repeat Murray Red front or leave it white and put some of our artwork - http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010313.jpg What colour should I paint our bedroom wall ... it flows through to the WIR and ensuite & is basically one long wall 10 metres long and is directly opposite the niches ... thinking of slate blue??? All our funiture is dark wood. Carpets are a dark mocha colour so we can basically go with anything. I don't want wallpaper. Our bedlinen is Calvin Klein bamboo which is a grey/blue Japanese theme - http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/b188_1.jpg our bedroom wall http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010316.jpg Walking down the hallway again we come to the open family room with kitchen opposite. Not sure which colour to paint the fireplace wall and dare I say it ... THAT *&^%$#* splashback. Thinking of repeating the colour in the splash on the fireplace. Any ideas anyone??? http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010281.jpg [Ihttp://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010307.jpg last but not least welcome our little puppies ... 8 little buggers running around my SILs who definitely deserves a bottle of wine and welcome stay overs in our new house for helping us out. http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010321.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010320.jpg We've painted 1/4 strength hog bristle throughout and we have such light areas that the cream really shows itself. I like it! Walls are finished and woodwork should be painted tomorrow. The end is nigh!! Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 2Aug 02, 2008 11:08 pm I'm terrible with colours as we all know
But I love the idea of the Murray Red on the entrance wall with the niches, I think it would look great, however, I would keep the artwork/whatever you plan to put in the niches plain as the feature wall would be a statement on its own. Otherwise I would keep the feature wall a plain colour and make a feature of whatever you put in the niches. Secondly I love the idea of the splashback matching the surrounds of the fireplace, particulary as they are in the same area....are you any closer with the splashback colour? Oh how I hate stupid splashback decisions!!! I like green for a bedroom, we are thinking of wild fig Wattyl, it is a bit of a darker earthy green but really nice. Green is a calming colour and I think would suit any bedroom, we also plan to use green in our DD's room Good Luck Dy My karma ran over your dogma Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 3Aug 02, 2008 11:19 pm thanks Bel
I'm totally freaking over that splashback. Decision time is on us and I just can't finalise the order. I can feel Michelle wanting to spank me from here . Just don't know about red ... worried about the clashing of the blue but maybe I am making a big deal out of nothing . I'm thinking of blue in the bedroom and am trying to download a pic of our bedlinen so you can see what I mean. Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 4Aug 02, 2008 11:27 pm okay looking at the pics of the linen I reckon I should paint the niches the same colour as the pillow sham/throw in the picture of the linen and the bedroom wall a blue/grey to match. Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 5Aug 02, 2008 11:33 pm Forgot to mention how cute your pups are! We pick up our 'baby' in 5 weeks!
Oh yes I see your bed linen now, definately not green for the bedroom wall, I think your right in picking up a colour from the bed linen that will work well on the wall and in the niches I'm still not 100% on the Murray Red splashback with the blue tinge to your cupboards, but I'm definately no expert. I think the silver/grey colour with a bit of sparkle would look fab though! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 6Aug 02, 2008 11:40 pm do you want another baby . we've got 8 to choose from.
I think slate blue in the bedroom will work well ... not sure about family/kitchen tho' . It's official ... carpet and splashbacks are the hardest to choose . Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 8Aug 02, 2008 11:44 pm um ok I would do a platinium splashback to match the nova aurora top
or even mirrored glass if you were game the fireplace match to the dark colour of your kitchen maybe? niches - artwork bedroom - do you really need a feature wall? but what the $%# would I know!! hope you get your answers Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 9Aug 02, 2008 11:46 pm lol thanks Bec.
Mirrored or platinum sounds good . and yes ... I agree ... dark for the fireplace surround as it will match the lounge and rug. TY ty ty ty Re: Feature walls that flow through the house 10Aug 03, 2008 8:41 am Dy, I'd leave the niches make the art the statement.
Bed definetly pick a colour from the linen - I'd go the blue of the sheets - not to wishy washy. splashback - I like becs idea. Fireplace match it in to the bottom of the kitchen cupboards, then hang something on it the same as the splashback! Oh your puppies are sooooo cute. (By puppies I mean dogs ) Paula Good luck with it. I don't know what the cost of a nice bidet seat with a 25mm air gap will be but you are obviously deducting the cost of a RPZ valve and its… 9 6985 You may still have a case, but your next step is to speak to a lawyer. 3 1649 yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7326 |
