I'm not obsessive though - no ironing of bed sheets, tea towels, boxer shorts.
Exactly the opposite with me....

Exactly the opposite with me....takes DW about 10 minutes to iron a shirt....I do it much quicker....although I'm not home for Oprah.....I iron to Top Gear maybe that's why I'm quick..... Much nicer to iron in front of the telly!! Stonecutter, Dont iron sheets either but tea towles are a must!! Re: Storage ideas 65Jul 02, 2008 11:28 am stonecutter1309 Paula Stonecutter, Dont iron sheets either but tea towles are a must!! But what happens once it gets used? Do you change teatowels every day? (I know someone that uses a fresh bath towel every day ) Once you use it you hang it back up, it still looks freshly ironed. (mine are hung in the cupboard, not on show) Yes I do change them every day - but they get me through breakfast, lunch and dinner. So after reading that back - I have to ask myself "why do I iron them??" Paula Re: Storage ideas 66Jul 02, 2008 6:36 pm
I hate watching DH iron - it's so painstakingly slow! Who cares how slow he is. ??????? Hmm in our house back when DH was working he always ironed his own things and I ironed mine. I rarely had to iron where as he had shirts, trousers every day. We were both really appreciative if the other did them for us. Seemed reasonable to me. He'd been doing his washing and ironing since he'd moved out of home, why change it. These days he is a House Hubby ( I hate the term Mr Mum) he does all the washing except my things. But if I get stuck he'll do mine, hang and fold them as well. It's gonna be tough soon as he's looking to head back to work asap. Re: Storage ideas 67Jul 02, 2008 9:02 pm Paula Alicante Ive done a design for your garage. You have limited space so only enough room to build on one wall. You have small cars (whats a VW Tiguan?) which helps. Build it on the RHS wall where the power is for the dryer. As far as the bikes go I love the roof hanging that Mike suggested Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ you can put these close to the back wall where they wont interfere with the cars. The only thing you need to do is measure the depth of your dryer and make this the overall depth for the system. Once again I can email you the plan on a word doc. Had a look at the effa storage system, you could do this design with that - or maybe look at some from Howards storage world. If budget was no factor get a cabinet maker to do it. For everyone else - I'll see of I can get it up on here. My printer has just told me to replace the drum, so waiting for that to arrive. Thanks Paula ... so kind of you! I'm excited. I will PM you my e-mail address. Re: Storage ideas 68Jul 03, 2008 9:05 am kexkez Who cares how slow he is. ??????? I work from home 2-3 days per week - so I'd prefer to iron after lunch while finishing Oprah - then have more time for snuggling on the couch when he gets home Must be something about the Capricorn in me that feels achievement in a perfectly ironed shirt! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Storage ideas 69Jul 09, 2008 3:21 pm VJ Paula, Here is our house plan: http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc22/venielynnr/VJNevada39_FP.gif Here are the dimensions: Mud room: 1.5m x 6m (height: 2550mm) WIR: 4.85m x (height: 2400mm) Notice that there's a void area in front of the bed (just before going to the ensuite).. I was joking DH that it will be his BIR and the WIR will be mine For the WIR, we have one side (right) with mirrored sliding doors and the other side (left) with nothing at all (we made it that way so we can design our own later). In addition to clothes, we need a storage for my bags, scarves and belts. For the mud room, it will house all our shoes & DH's and the kids' bags. The shoes will be separated into frequently-used and not. We will also have an area for lots of slippers (for inside and outside the house) and a coat hanger for us and the kids. Thanks heaps for the help, Paula... and take your time... not really in a hurry. [/img] Hi VJ, Finally getting around to yours now I have my PC back, and I've got the scanner working!!!!! One question with your WIR, did you give me the dimensions for the wall that your bed is on?? If so, will the other mirrored robe be all of your hanging?? Do you know the depth? Thanks. I had a cabinet maker in this morning to measure up for the study - he was most impressed that he didn't have to design it - I had it all drawn to what I wanted. Paula Re: Storage ideas 73Jul 09, 2008 3:53 pm Well Done Paula.
You have done such a great job with everyone's storage ideas. You should really think about getting into your own little buisness, you really have a knack for this sort of thing. I'm sure they will all be thrilled with what you have come up with. I love the school bag idea, no more tripping over schoolbags in the hallway!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Storage ideas 75Jul 09, 2008 4:31 pm VJ
Here is your mud room. Lots of shoe storage (potentially 50 pairs) - one down the far end for the less frequently used shoes and one next to the door so the kids can put their shoes away. there is a spot for boots and longer shoes. the top shoe racks can also be shelves for whatever takes your fancy Next to that is their school bag storage. Easy to reach with cupboards above. Next to that is coat hanging - one for long coats and two for short coats - this will also fit things like ski jackets, life jackets (if your into extreme sports ) I have included a bench - they come in very handy. The big shelf at the top is where I'd store your big items such as luggage etc. I'd also store your green bags and other shopping bags in here as well. There are a couple of cupboards for when you get home from shopping and DH is home and you need to hide things before you get them into your wardrobe Oh sorry, I was thinking that's what I'd like There are measurements on the plan, its drawn to scale. If you were to get this built in, to would cost a bit, but it can be done with the storage things from Ikea of Howard's storage World.
