Browse Forums Finishing Touch Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 2May 13, 2015 12:55 pm I don't know Wattyl colours at all, but based on the website image it looks quite light and creamy. If you're searching for houses with a similar colour, the best bet I can think of is "Hog Bristle", which was popular for a while recently. It looks like Elegant White is lighter than Hog Bristle - more like Quarter Hog Bristle, and more creamy (more yellow / less grey). I'd put a sample of your colour against a sample of Dulux Hog Bristle and compare how they look, and then search the web for Hog Bristle houses - Not because Hog Bristle is specifically a good colour, but just because it's a bit similar and it's fairly easy to find pictures of houses with it. You could look for Surfmist facades as well for concept, but Elegant White looks a bit lighter than Surfmist, and a lot yellower, whereas Surfmist reads more as a grey. It actually looks similar in toning to Classic Cream, but in a much whitened version of it - so I'm thinking quite sweetly yellow. I don't think it's such a popular colour for facades at the moment. I'd say most houses built at the moment are darker and greyer. You'd have to look at what other colours you were going to put it with. I don't think it would mix so well with greys or Surfmist. Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 3May 13, 2015 2:56 pm Hi John, Thanks for your quick reply. I am using surfmist for the Garage and Facia, Gutter all are Woodland grey. I want Bright colour for my render facade so that the house looks brighter. How it will look like if I use Dulux Ghosting? One of my friend suggest to use Dulux Vivid White (G - 0.11, M - 0.45, EE:6.31) Can you please suggest me which colour I can choose. Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 4May 13, 2015 8:58 pm There's people with much better colour intuition than me, so I can't advise too much. What colour do you have in mind for the roof and window frames? Any feature colour? Usually for render colours, you don't often see much lighter than surfmist, which tends to read as a "white" externally. If you go lighter than that for a render, then the garage door wil show up as more grey. In this thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21810 this house seems to be surfmist render, which comes up as quite light - here with a shale grey garage door. - Though I do wonder if it might actually be a vivid white render with surfmist door, but I don't think that combo would have that much difference. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think Dulux Ghosting could work ok. It's basically a lighter version of Dune - which goes with Surfmist and Woodland Grey. It would be more a cooler look though, compared to what you might have had in mind with the Elegant White. The next one warmer from that is Beige Royal, which would also be ok, maybe even Grand Piano. I have a bit of trouble picturing what you have in mind, as you have subtle variations between the render and the garage door, but then have a deep contrast from your light white into the woodland grey. Given you have those quite dark colours, I'd lean to either having the render the same as the garage (surfmist), or have the two more significantly different. That's just a feel though - don't take it as from a colour expert. Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 5May 14, 2015 6:10 pm Thanks and appreciate John for your comments. Now I narrow my listing: can Any one suggest about below: Option: Main Render Colour Dune/ Dulux Ghosting/white Duck. Garage, Pipe all Surfmist. Gutter, Facia: Woodland Grey/Surfmist? Option: Main Render Surfmist. Gutter, Facia, Pipe: surfmist, Garage door: Shale Grey. Option: Main Render grey Pebble, Gutter, facia, pipe: Woodland Gery. Garage: surf Mist. any thoughts? Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 6May 14, 2015 8:06 pm Regarding Ghosting vs Grey Pebble - It's worth knowing how the Dulux colour atlas works. http://www.dulux.com.au/specifier/colour/colour-atlas In the Hue Spectrum tab, the colours are grouped in pages, and the pages give the Hue of the colour: ie which band on the rainbow it is. Then within the page, the horizontal direction (A to H) gives the saturation giving bright colour one way, and towards grey the other way. Then top to bottom it is dark to light. (1 light through to 9 dark) Ghosting is P15A1 - page 15, saturation A (at the grey end), and darkness 1 (lightest full colour). Going across to B column, P15B1, you get Beige Royal which is a bit stronger in colour - in this case more warmer, less grey. But then you can flip back to page 14, on the same entry, P14B1 you get Grey Pebble. Or going the other way, P16B1 is White Duck. All four colours are very similar. Grey Pebble is just a bit more towards red, while Beige Royal more towards green, and White duck a bit further to the green. That's mainly to show that the first and third options arn't so different, and how to know in what way they are different. So what about the roof colour? What do you have mind there? Do you have anything in mind for a feature wall, like darker render, or some brick? I'm surprise no one else has put any thoughts in yet, but hopefully you'll get some more varied opinion. Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 7May 15, 2015 12:30 am Thanks John again. Appreciate your valuable comment. The roof I like Slimline, woodland grey. I just click your link and found a colour white Dune. I like dune but need more brighter look. I assume White Dune will be more brighter. For feature wall I will use stone. Thanks. I hope other member also share their views. Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 8May 15, 2015 9:17 pm My suggestion would be: Roof: Woodland Grey - tile equivalent Gutter: Woodland Grey Facia: Surfmist Garage Door: Surfmist Windows: white Render: Grey Pebble This should look something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ With the render colour, I'd actually base it off the stone that you chose to match the tonings. In dulux colours, I'd aim for row code 1 on the atlas - ie the same row as Grey Pebble and White duck, then columns A to C, and on pages 12 through 16. You could find a match for the stone in a darker colour, and then just move up to row code 1 on the atlas, and it should match fairly well. That brightness should be just a bit darker than the surfmist of the garage door, but significantly lighter than Dune. The colour White Dune isn't really related to Dune. It's more beige, where Dune is greyer. It's also quite a light colour, and lighter than surfmist. It's close to Hog Bristle Quarter. I'd be a bit cautious about bringing the wall lighter than the garage door if its Surfmist, as then it starts confusing the eye about what is actually "white". The look is something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Render Colour - Elegant White 10May 17, 2015 7:01 pm That was the intention, but bear in mind that pictures like that are only an indication of the real thing.
